The Outcast (1954 Film)
''The Outcast'' is a 1954 American Western (genre), Western film directed by William Witney and starring John Derek and Joan Evans (actress), Joan Evans.Pitts p.237 It was produced and distributed by Republic Pictures and was made on a slightly higher budget than the many of the second features the company released. Plot Jet Cosgrave (John Derek) has been cheated out of his inheritance by his crooked uncle, Maj. Linton Cosgrave (Jim Davis (actor), Jim Davis) and outcast from the community. Jet tries to clear his name and win back his father’s ranch by hiring some gunmen. Along the way he falls for Judy Polsen (Joan Evans (actress), Joan Evans) and also flirts with his uncle’s fiancee. William Witney
William Nuelsen Witney (May 15, 1915 – March 17, 2002) was an American film and television director. He is best remembered for the action films he made for Republic Pictures, particularly serials: ''Dick Tracy Returns'', ''G-Men vs. the Black Dragon'', ''Daredevils of the Red Circle'', ''Zorro's Fighting Legion'', and ''Drums of Fu Manchu''. Prolific and pugnacious, Witney began directing while still in his 20s, and continued working until 1982. Early years Witney was born in Lawton, Oklahoma. He was four years old when his father died, and he lived with his uncle, who was an Army captain at Fort Sam Houston. Colbert Clark, Witney's brother-in-law, introduced him to films by letting him ride in some chase scenes for the serial ''Fighting with Kit Carson'' (1933). Slim Pickens
Louis Burton Lindley Jr. (June 29, 1919 – December 8, 1983), better known by his stage name Slim Pickens, was an American actor and rodeo performer. Starting off in the rodeo, Pickens transitioned to acting and appeared in dozens of movies and TV shows. For much of his career Pickens played mainly cowboy roles; he is perhaps best remembered today for his comic roles in ''Dr. Strangelove'', '' Blazing Saddles'' and ''1941'', and his villainous turn in ''One-Eyed Jacks''. Nacho Galindo (November 7, 1908 – June 22, 1973) was a Mexican-American film and television actor who lived and worked in the Los Angeles area for most of his life. Between 1941 and 1970 he had small, often unbilled roles in 71 feature films and at least 60 TV episodes. His most prominent film role was that of the Cisco Kid's third-billed sidekick, "Baby", in 1946's '' The Gay Cavalier'', the first of poverty row studio Monogram's entries in the series, which starred Gilbert Roland as The Cisco Kid. Bob Steele (born Robert Adrian Bradbury; January 23, 1907 – December 21, 1988) was an American actor. He also was billed as Bob Bradbury Jr.. Early life Steele was born in Portland, Oregon, into a vaudeville family. His parents were Robert North Bradbury and the former Nieta Quinn. He had a twin brother, Bill, also an actor. After years of touring, the family settled in Hollywood in the late 1910s, where his father soon found work in the movies, first as an actor, later as a director.
