The Other Tomorrow
''The Other Tomorrow'' is a lost 1930 American pre-Code film, directed by Lloyd Bacon and produced by First National Pictures, a subsidiary of Warner Bros. The love-triangle drama, from a story by Octavus Roy Cohen, stars Billie Dove, Kenneth Thomson, and Grant Withers. Plot The story takes place in a small town in Georgia. Edith (Dove) is a girl who has loved Jim Carter (Withers) since childhood. One day they get into a quarrel and an older and very wealthy man, Norton Larrison (Thomson), seizes the opportunity to court Edith. Larrison succeeds in making Edith forget Jim temporarily. Edith marries Larrison and then go to Europe on their honeymoon. Soon after they return to Georgia, Edith discovers that she is still in love with Jim. She is determined, however, to be a faithful wife and vows to hide her love for Jim. One day Larrison overhears a conversation to the effect that Jim can never forget his love for Edith. Lloyd Bacon
Lloyd Francis Bacon (December 4, 1889 – November 15, 1955) was an American screen, stage and vaudeville actor and film director. As a director he made films in virtually all genres, including westerns, musicals, comedies, gangster films, and crime dramas. He was one of the directors at Warner Bros. in the 1930s who helped give that studio its reputation for gritty, fast-paced "torn from the headlines" action films. And, in directing Warner Bros.' ''42nd Street (film), 42nd Street'', he joined the movie's song-and-dance-number director, Busby Berkeley, in contributing to "an instant and enduring classic [that] transformed the musical genre." One major contributing factor is the common use of nitrate film until the early 1950s. This type of film is highly flammable, and there have been several devastating fires, such as the Universal Pictures fire in 1924, the 1937 Fox vault fire and the 1965 MGM vault fire. Black-and-white film prints judged to be otherwise worthless were sometimes incinerated to salvage the meager scrap value of the silver image particles in their emulsions. Otto F. Hoffman (May 2, 1879 – June 23, 1944) was an American film actor. He appeared in almost 200 films between 1915 and 1944. He was born in New York City and died in Los Angeles, California, from lung cancer. Hoffman's Broadway credits include ''The Strange Woman'' (1913), ''The Spring Maid'' (1910), and ''A Broken Idol'' (1909). He was also active in stock theater productions. Hoffman debuted in film in 1906 in a production of the Edison Company in New York. Later he worked for Goldwyn Pictures.
