The Other Colors
The Other Colors is a French experimental electronic band. Active since 2007, composed of vocalist and songwriter Marie Möör and music composer Laurent Chambert. Previously trading under the name, Rose et noire, album releases : ''Rose et noire'', 2003 and ''Trace dans le bleu'', 2006 under the label Discordian Records. Their first public appearance took place on January 29, 2007, for the ''Rose et noire & The Other Colors'' concert, ''Petit Théâtre du Gymnase'', Paris. The event was announced by Bruno Bayon in the Libération daily newspaper : ''A proof of Möör''. Name The Other Colors took their name of the first song ''Les autres couleurs'' on the album ''361''. Marie Möör
Marie Möör is a French singer and songwriter born in France, Seine-et-Marne. Having collaborated with renowned artists like jazz saxophonist and composer Barney Wilen, singer-songwriter Jean-Louis Murat, electro-crooner Bertrand Burgalat and pop star Christophe, she has been working with composer and musician Laurent Chambert since 2001. Experimenting with new song forms, she writes and performs her lyrics. Biography 1980s In 1982, Möör met the French jazz saxophonist Barney Wilen, who at age 18 had played with Miles Davis. Möör's single "Pretty Day", features her lyrics and music by Wilen, who produced the record and played tenor saxophone, accompanied by Claude Micheli and Guillaume Loizillon. Barney Wilen
Bernard "Barney" Jean Wilen (4 March 1937 – 25 May 1996) was a French tenor and soprano saxophonist and jazz composer. Life Wilen was born in Nice, France; his father was an American dentist turned inventor, and his mother was French. He began performing in clubs in Nice after being encouraged by Blaise Cendrars who was a friend of his mother. His career was boosted in 1957, when he worked with Miles Davis on the soundtrack for the Louis Malle film '' Ascenseur pour l'Échafaud'' (''Elevator to the Gallows''). In 1959, Wilen wrote his soundtrack '' Un Témoin Dans la Ville'' and studio album '' Jazz sur scène'' with Kenny Clarke. Jean-Louis Murat (born 28 January 1952) is the pseudonym of the French singer/songwriter Jean-Louis Bergheaud. He spent much of his childhood with his grandparents in Murat-le-Quaire from which he got his pseudonym. Daniel Bevilacqua (, ; 13 October 1945 – 16 April 2020), better known by the stage name Christophe (), was a French singer and songwriter. He was born in the Paris suburb of Juvisy-sur-Orge, to an Italian father. Career Born in a suburb of Paris, Bevilacqua was rebellious at school and started leading a pop group when in his mid-teens. His first single, "Reviens Sophie" in 1963, was unsuccessful, but after changing his name to Christophe, his second single, " Aline", in 1965, rose to the top of the French pop music charts.
