The Orchard End Murder
''The Orchard End Murder'' is a 1980 British short thriller film by Marnham & Harvey Productions. It was directed and written by Christian Marnham, and stars Tracy Hyde, Bill Wallis, Clive Mantle, and Raymond Adamson. It marked the film debut of Clive Mantle. The film was theatrically released in the United Kingdom on 1 November 1981 as a support to '' Dead & Buried''. Plot In Kent in 1966, a young woman called Pauline Cox ( Tracy Hyde) accompanies her boyfriend to a cricket match and wanders off to explore the countryside surroundings when she becomes bored. She meets an eccentric stationmaster (Bill Wallis). After having tea with him, she meets his half-witted assistant called Ewen (Clive Mantle) who kills a rabbit which disgusts and upsets her. She runs off but meets Ewen again in the nearby orchard. Clearly having feelings for her, he kisses her, but she tries to escape from him on a pile of apples when she realises his intentions. Tracy Hyde
Tracy Constance Margaret Hyde (born 16 May 1959) is a British former actress and model who shot to fame in the 1971 film ''Melody'' after being discovered by film producer David Puttnam. Hyde was born in Fulham, London, England. She learned ballet at the age of four, did junior modelling for an agency, and auditioned for a pickle advertisement. The writer and director Andrew Birkin (brother of actress Jane Birkin) saw photographs of the young Tracy Hyde and persuaded her mother Maureen to audition her for the title role of Melody Perkins. Birkin also recommended Tracy to director Waris Hussein, writer Alan Parker and producer David Puttnam. After screen tests and auditions, Hyde finally won the role. After Melody, Hyde appeared in the UK ''Trial'' (BBC, 1971), ''ITV Playhouse: The Greeks and Their Gifts'' ( Anglia, 1972) and '' Love Story: Home for the Holidays'' (Associated Television, 1973). Mollie Maureen
Mollie Maureen (16 August 1904 – 26 January 1987) was an Irish actress who worked mainly in Britain. Life and career Maureen was born Elizabeth Mary Campfield in 1904 in Ireland. Her acting career began in 1939, wherein she acted in a film entitled ''A Ship in the Bay''. Maureen mainly worked in television, with many minor and/or recurring roles in major shows such as ''Dr. Finlay's Casebook'', ''Z-Cars'', ''Open All Hours'', ''Last of the Summer Wine'' and ''The Sweeney''. She also appeared as an elderly lady in an episode of ''Hammer House of Mystery and Suspense''. More prominently, from 1981 to 1983, she had various roles on the ''Kenny Everett Show''. Other television appearances included playing Lady Glenmire in the 1972 version of Elizabeth Gaskell's '' Cranford'', alongside Pat Coombs.
