The Optimist (TV Series)
''The Optimist'' is a British television comedy series starring Enn Reitel and produced by Robert Sidaway (actor), Robert Sidaway. Each episode tells a separate comic adventure in the life of an everyday man who, whether it turns out a success or a failure, always remains optimistic. The stories made a feature of fantasy and dream sequences. Citing the influences of Jacques Tati, Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin, as well as the character of Walter Mitty, the series was designed as a silent comedy, with original music and enhanced sound effects. Shooting on 16mm, it was made on location in Cabo San Lucas, Los Angeles and London. A total of thirteen episodes were produced. The series debuted on 14 April 1983 and the final episode was broadcast on 5 January 1985. Enn Reitel
Enn Reitel (born 21 June 1950) is a Scottish actor who specialises in voice work in video games, movies and TV shows. Early life Reitel's family arrived in Scotland as refugees from Estonia and Germany. He trained as an actor at the Central School of Speech and Drama. Career Acting In 1982 Reitel starred in '' The Further Adventures of Lucky Jim'', a sitcom on BBC Two written by Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais. Reitel played Jim Dixon, based on the character created by Kingsley Amis. He appeared on stage in '' Me and My Girl'' at the Adelphi Theatre in 1986. On television he worked as an impressionist on the satirical puppet show ''Spitting Image'' and starred in the ITV sitcom '' Mog'' as a burglar who spent his days in a psychiatric hospital, pretending to be insane. William Lindsey Erwin (December 2, 1914 – December 29, 2010) was an American film, stage and television actor and cartoonist with over 250 television and film credits. Ian McNeice (born 2 October 1950) is an English film and television actor. He found fame portraying government agent Harcourt in the 1985 television series ''Edge of Darkness'', and went on to feature in popular films such as ''The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill But Came Down a Mountain'', '' Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls'' and ''Frank Herbert's Dune''. The Hollywood Sign is an American landmark and cultural icon overlooking Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. Originally the Hollywoodland Sign, it is situated on Mount Lee, in the Beachwood Canyon area of the Santa Monica Mountains. Hollywood High School is a four-year public secondary school in the Los Angeles Unified School District, located at the intersection of North Highland Avenue and West Sunset Boulevard in the Hollywood district of Los Angeles, California. Wilshire Boulevard is a prominent boulevard in the Los Angeles area of Southern California, extending from Ocean Avenue in the city of Santa Monica east to Grand Avenue in the Financial District of downtown Los Angeles. Santa Monica State Beach is a California State Park operated by the city of Santa Monica. Description The beach is located along Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica. It is long and has parks, picnic areas, playgrounds, restrooms, as well as staffed lifeguard stations, the Muscle Beach, bike rentals, concessions, a few hotels, a bike path, and wooden pathways for warm days and beachgoers with disabilities. Dinah May (9 September 1954), is an English former model, former Miss Great Britain, and former actress, latterly the personal assistant to film director Michael Winner. Career May was born in Irby, Cheshire, and trained as a hairdresser. However, she found that she earned more money as a part-time model, and so took that up full-time.
