Dawn Brown of Metal Wani gave it a rating of 8/10, commenting that "while this album very much follows the general nature and disposition of Powerman 5000, it’s really not a metal album. It walks a fine line between industrial and electronica. However, the lyrics are offbeat, eccentric, and expertly crafted for the songs therein. ‘The Noble Rot’ is a must-listen if you're a fan of Powerman 5000 or the fantastic camp of a B-movie." Jeannie Blue of Cryptic Rock gave it 5/5 stars. She noted that "despite a plethora of lineup c ...

Industrial Metal
Industrial metal is the fusion of heavy metal and industrial music, typically employing repeating metal guitar riffs, sampling, synthesizer or sequencer lines, and distorted vocals. Prominent industrial metal acts include Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson, Rammstein, Godflesh, and Fear Factory. Industrial metal developed in the late 1980s, as industrial and metal began to fuse into a common genre. Industrial metal did well in the early 1990s, particularly in North America, with the success of groups such as Nine Inch Nails, but its popularity began to fade in the latter half of the 1990s. History Early innovators Though electric guitars had been used by industrial artists since the early days of the genre, archetypal industrial groups such as Throbbing Gristle displayed a strong anti-rock stance. British post-punk band Killing Joke pioneered the crossing over between styles and was an influence on major acts associated with industrial metal such as Ministry, Go ...

We Got The Beat
"We Got the Beat" is a song by the American rock band the Go-Go's, written by the group's lead guitarist and keyboardist Charlotte Caffey. The band first recorded the song in 1980 for a single on UK-based Stiff Records, and later rerecorded it for their debut album '' Beauty and the Beat'' on I.R.S. Records. The initial single release brought the Go-Go's underground credibility during their first UK tour and in the band's hometown of Los Angeles. The first version reached No. 35 on the U.S. Hot Dance Club Play chart due to its popularity in clubs as an import, and the second version was a top 10 hit in both the United States and Canada. It is considered a new wave classic hit, as well as being the Go-Go's' signature song. The song was named one of "The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll". Background, composition and release "We Got the Beat" evolved in part out of the group covering the Smokey Robinson song that served as the group's namesake: the ...

The Go-Go's
The Go-Go's are an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1978. Except for short periods when other musicians joined briefly, the band has had a relatively stable lineup consisting of Charlotte Caffey on lead guitar and keyboards, Belinda Carlisle on lead vocals, Gina Schock on drums, Kathy Valentine on bass guitar, and Jane Wiedlin on rhythm guitar. They are widely considered the most successful all-female rock band of all time. The quintet emerged from the L.A. punk rock scene of the late 1970s and in 1981 released their debut album '' Beauty and the Beat''. The LP topped the ''Billboard'' album chart – a (still-unequaled) first for an all-female band writing their own material and playing their own instruments. ''Beauty and the Beat'' is considered one of the "cornerstone albums of US new wave" (AllMusic), having broken barriers and paved the way for a host of other new American acts. It yielded two of the Go-Go's four biggest Hot 100 hits – "Our Lips Are Sea ...

Anyone For Doomsday?
''Anyone for Doomsday?'' is the third full-length album by American rock band Powerman 5000. Background The album was originally slated as the follow-up to 1999's ''Tonight the Stars Revolt!''. It was pulled by Powerman 5000 frontman Spider One two weeks before the release date. Due to being too similar to previous work, the album was originally intended to merely be delayed and revamped. However, during this time conflicts began to arise causing longtime members Dorian 27 (Dorian Heartsong) and Al3 (Allen Pahanish) to leave the band. As a result, the album was scrapped due to Spider's unwillingness to release an album of half new members and half old. The album was available for a while on Powerman 5000's official website through Spider One's record label, Megatronic Records. The promotional copies featured artwork that was different from the copies available on the website. The album however was taken down due to legal reasons. The album is now available in full on iTunes and Sp ...
