''The Night Serenade'' (Hungarian: ''Éjjeli zene'') is a 1943 Hungarian drama film directed by Frigyes Bán and starring János Sárdy, Margit Ladomerszky and Éva Kelemen.Balski p.19 It was shot at the Hunnia Studios in Budapest. The film's sets were designed by the art director László Dudás. Synopsis A scandal breaks out when an engaged young woman from a wealthy background is serenaded by a man who is not her fiancée. György Kürthy
György Kürthy (24 February 1882 – 27 December 1972) was a Hungarian actor, scenographer, writer and director of the theatre. Biography He maturated in Budapest, then moved to Munich where he learnt architecture. His first theatrical performance was in 1905 at Thália Theatre. He was a member of the National Theatre between 1906 and 1935. He worked as a chief director in Kolozsvár (today Cluj-Napoca, Romania) in the theatre year 1908-1909. Between 1916 and 1923 he taught at Academy of Drama and Film in Budapest. During the next year he played at National Theatre of Pécs. Then he moved back to the capital, and was a professor at the Hungarian University of Arts and Design from 1927 to 1930. In the following year he was the director of National Theatre of Szeged. Sári Déry (1911–1952) was a Hungarian stage and film actress. Székely &Gajdó p.705 She was married three times, including to the actor Nándor Bihary. She was born in Bratislava, then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire but later part of Czechoslovakia. After first appearing on stage in Bratislava, she emigrated to Budapest where she appeared at a variety of theatres. In the early 1950s she was persecuted by the Communist regime and had to leave Budapest, something loosely portrayed in the 1984 film ''Oh, Bloody Life''. Lenke Lorán (1 May 1927 – 27 August 2017) was a Hungarian actress. She was born in Győr, Hungary. Her career began in 1935. Lorán played mostly comedies, but she also performed memorably in more serious films as well. Her best known roles were in ''Nyári játék'', ''Entanglement (film), Entanglement'', and in ''7-es csatorna''. Between 1945 and 1966, she was a member of the Theater of the Hungarian People's Army and the Petőfi Theater. Between 1966 and 1998, she played on the Amusement Stage. Between 1998 and 2011, she was a member of the Microscope Stage. She retired in 2014.
