Warren Hymer
Edgar Warren Hymer (February 25, 1906 – March 25, 1948) was an American theatre and film actor. Early life He was born in New York City. His father, John Bard Hymer (1875/1876 – 1953) was a playwright (with nine Broadway plays to his credit, according to the Internet Broadway Database), vaudeville writer and actor, while his mother, Eleanor Kent, was an actress. Career He appeared in 129 films between 1929 and 1946, as well as the 1928 Broadway play ''The Grey Fox.'' Despite his typical screen persona as an unsophisticated tough guy with a Brooklyn accent, he actually attended Yale University. In the late 1930s, Columbia Pictures head Harry Cohn had him removed from the studio after he showed up for work drunk. Hymer responded by breaking into Cohn's office and urinating on his desk. Cohn then blackballed him in the film industry, making it hard for him to find work. Death He died in Los Angeles, California, reportedly of a "stomach ailment" at age 42 in 1 ... Tom O'Brien (July 25, 1890 – June 8, 1947) was an American silent and sound character actor known for his burly serio-comic roles. He worked in the comedy film ''The Gentleman from America'' (1923) as Johnny Day, which is about the humorous tale of two American buddies (O'Brien and Hoot Gibson) and they have numerous adventures in Spain. Tom O'Brien appeared in over 80 films in a 22 years of career. He was primarily cast as stocky "Irish types" in comic supporting roles. Edmund Mortimer (born Edmund Mortimer Olson; August 21, 1874 – May 21, 1944) was an American actor and film director. Early years Mortimer's family was "prominent socially in Brooklyn and Washington". His father (also named Edmund Mortimer Olson) was a captain in the U. S. Navy. As a boy, Mortimer sang in church choirs and participated in other musical activities in Brooklyn. His military service included membership; in the Second Naval Battalion and in Company C, 23rd Regiment. Career Mortimer began acting on stage in 1904 and went on to perform with several theatrical companies. He appeared in more than 250 films between 1913 and 1945. Eddie Kane (August 12, 1889 – April 30, 1969) was an American actor who appeared in over 250 productions from 1928 to 1959. Biography Kane was born in St. Louis, Missouri. His early career was in vaudeville as a member of the two-man team of Kane & Herman. Some of his more famous films include ''The Public Enemy'' (1931), ''The Mummy'' (1932), ''Mr. Deeds Goes to Town'' (1936), '' Mr. Smith Goes to Washington'' (1939), ''Meet John Doe'' (1941), ''Yankee Doodle Dandy'' (1942), ''It's a Wonderful Life'' (1946), and ''The Ten Commandments'' (1956). Emmett Corrigan
Emmett Corrigan (born Antoine Zilles; June 5, 1867 – October 29, 1932) was a Dutch-born American stage and screen actor. Various sources give his birth year as 1867, 1868 and 1871. Corrigon was born as Antoine Zilles in Amsterdam, Holland, and his career extended from the silent era to the early sound years. He originally studied for the priesthood and also debuted on stage at Baltimore at age fourteen. He later attended Ilchester College. Wallis Hensman Clark (2 March 1882 – 14 February 1961) was an English stage and film actor. Biography Clark was born in Bolton, Lancashire, England, the son of William Wallis Clark (1854 - 1930), an engineer. Prior to acting, Clark was an engineer. He began his stage career in Margate, Kent, in 1908. He moved to the United States and acted in numerous plays on the stage, including at the Little Theatre in Philadelphia, for years before moving on to the screen in 1932. He appeared in supporting roles in 136 films between 1931 and 1954. Biography He was born in Santa Ana, California, and died in Hollywood, California, from a heart attack. Boteler graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. After he graduated, he stayed there as a director until he joined the Army in World War I. For three years in the mid-1920s, he worked for Douglas MacLean's film company as both actor and writer.
