The New Dominion
The New Dominion is a Dutch death metal band from Tilburg, formed in 2006. While their style is originally rooted in Scandinavian death metal, The New Dominion has consistently incorporated progressive and technical influences into their riff oriented compositions. History Formation and ''…And Black Gleams The Eye…'' (2006-2008) Tom Adams and Bart Schoorl got to talk about their passion of death/thrash metal as volunteers at 013, a pop/rock venue in Tilburg. Tom had contacted Yuma van Eekelen which he knew as a friend from the singer of his last band. In the meantime Bart had spoken to his friend Marc van Stiphout about a potential new formation. Westpoint Tower
Westpoint Tower ( nl, Westpoint-woontoren) is the tallest residential building in Tilburg, Netherlands ) , anthem = ( en, "William of Nassau") , image_map = , map_caption = , subdivision_type = Sovereign state , subdivision_name = Kingdom of the Netherlands , established_title = Before independence , established_date = Spanish Netherl .... It is 141.6 metres tall, and has 48 floors. Construction of Westpoint Tower was completed in 2004. At the time of completion the tower was the highest residential building in the Netherlands until 6 November 2010 when it was surpassed by the New Orleans skyscraper in Rotterdam. The building was designed by Margriet Eugelink (Van Aken Architektuur). The vertical and horizontal concrete elements of the grid at the front and the back of the tower are painted in different colours. At night, lights in different colours decorate the tower. Vreid
Vreid is a Norwegian black metal band formed in 2004 after the breakup of Windir following the death of lead singer and founder Valfar. The remaining members along with new guitarist Ese formed Vreid. The band's name is an archaic Norwegian word meaning "Wrath". Biography Hváll formed a new band consisting of the three Windir members Hváll (bass), Steingrim (drums), Sture (vocals/guitar) and a new guitarist named Ese. Ese has been a close friend of the Vreid members for years, and he was co-engineer on Windir’s ''Likferd'' album. Hváll wrote most of the material for the debut album entitled '' Kraft''. The lyrics are in both Norwegian and English. ''Kraft'' was released by Tabu Records in 2004. Vreid’s second album, ''Pitch Black Brigade'', was also released by Tabu Records, on 27 March 2006. Pestilence (band)
Pestilence is a Dutch death metal band from Enschede, founded in 1986. There have been numerous lineup changes with the band over their -year career, with guitarist and vocalist Patrick Mameli as the only constant member. After disbanding in order to pursue other musical directions in 1994, Pestilence reunited in 2008, and was put on a "permanent hold" in July 2014. However, the band reunited once again in October 2016. To date, Pestilence has released nine studio albums, and they are often known as part of "progressive death metal's Big Four", along with Death, Atheist, and Cynic. Cynic (band)
Cynic is an American progressive metal band formed in Miami, Florida in 1987 and later re-formed in Los Angeles, California in 2007, where the sole surviving member, Paul Masvidal remains to this day. Cynic incorporates elements of progressive rock, alternative, and metal. Their first album, ''Focus'', was released in 1993. Cynic disbanded in 1994, but they reunited in 2006 and released their second album in 2008. ''Traced in Air'' was released through French label Season of Mist, followed up by an EP titled ''Re-Traced'' in 2010 and an EP titled Carbon-Based Anatomy in 2011. Their third studio album, ''Kindly Bent to Free Us'', was released in 2014. In December 2017, after two years of an uncertain future, founding member Sean Reinert confirmed his split from Cynic. Finntroll
Finntroll is a Finnish metal band from Helsinki that combines elements of black metal and folk metal. Finntroll's lyrics are mostly in Swedish, the only exception being the song "Madon Laulu" on ''Visor om slutet''. Finntroll's original singer, Katla, decided to use Swedish over Finnish since he was part of a Swedish-speaking minority in Finland and the sound of the language seemed to better suit the band's "trollish" outfit. Despite several vocalist changes, this tradition has continued. According to band members Vreth and Skrymer, they took their name from an old Finnish legend where Swedish priests coming to Finland had an encounter with a wild-looking man who killed most of their party.
