The Mount Fuji Doomjazz Corporation was a side project of the members of The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble founded in Utrecht in 2007. History The idea for this project was born when the musicians of The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble wanted to dedicate themselves completely to improvised music with a side project. Initially, there was no intention to release any records. However, early performances of the group were already documented, so that a performance on February 24, 2007 at the Amsterdam Overtoom 301 in June of the same year was released as the first album Doomjazz Future Corpses! via Ad Noiseam. In the following years the group performed internationally and documented various performances as further publications in different formations. Jason Köhnen and Gideon Kiers appeared as the smallest unit, and, in addition to the musicians of The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble, other guest musicians were added to performances. The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble
The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble was a Dutch band formed in Utrecht, Netherlands, in 1999. The group is composed of Jason Köhnen, Gideon Kiers, trombonist Hilary Jeffery, cellist Nina Hitz, singer Charlotte Cegarra, guitarist Eelco Bosman, and violinist Sadie Anderson. The group is no longer active. Its live counterpart is The Mount Fuji Doomjazz Corporation. History Köhnen and Kiers initially formed the group, often abbreviated as TKDE, in 1999 as a project for scoring silent movies such as ''Nosferatu'' and ''Metropolis''. Köhnen and Kiers knew each other from studying at the Utrecht School of Arts. The hitherto electronic project was altered in 2004 when British trombonist Jeffery and Swiss cellist Hitz joined. As a quartet, the group released their debut album. Since then, the group has added Cegarra and Bosman in 2006, and Anderson in 2008. Ad Noiseam
Ad Noiseam is an independent record label that has from 2001 onwards published electronic music in the form of (breakcore, drum'n'bass, IDM, dubstep) as well as hip-hop and jazz based in Berlin, Germany. Ad Noiseam was founded in April of 2001 by Nicolas Chevreux, who also has done some of the design work for the label's releases. Ad Noiseam originally started out as a webzine but quickly moved on to being a record-label establishing a name for itself with its first release "Krach Test" (adn 01), a true tour-de-force 3CDr set featuring anyone who was anyone in the 2001 electronic music scene. After releasing high quality, small batch (mini)-CDr releases, the label phased out the CDr's in favour of factory pressed CDs with 2001's "Subfusc" by Tarmvred, after which numerous releases on both vinyl and CD followed.
