The Monte Carlo Story
''The Monte Carlo Story'' is a 1956 Italian comedy-drama film production made by Titanus and distributed by United Artists. Samuel A. Taylor directed, and also wrote the screenplay based on a story by Marcello Girosi and Dino Risi. Marcello Girosi produced the film, which was the first shot in the Technirama process. Jean Louis designed the costumes. The film stars Marlene Dietrich and Vittorio De Sica with Arthur O'Connell, Natalie Trundy, Mischa Auer and Renato Rascel. Plot The story takes place against the backdrop of the glorious French Riviera. Marlene Dietrich plays a woman with a lot of class, but no money to satisfy her taste for the best things in life. She is dazzled by Count Della Fiabe, who is also trying to recuperate his debts at the gambling tables of the famous casino. Samuel ''Šəmūʾēl'', Tiberian: ''Šămūʾēl''; ar, شموئيل or صموئيل '; el, Σαμουήλ ''Samouḗl''; la, Samūēl is a figure who, in the narratives of the Hebrew Bible, plays a key role in the transition from the biblical judges to the United Kingdom of Israel under Saul, and again in the monarchy's transition from Saul to David. Jane Prim Rose (February 7, 1913 – June 29, 1979) was an American character actress, perhaps best remembered as Audrey Dexter, the gently befuddled mother-in-law of Phyllis Lindstrom on the CBS sitcom ''Phyllis'' (1975–1977). Early life Jane Prim Rose was born on February 7, 1913, in Seattle. She attended the University of Washington, where future actress Frances Farmer was a classmate; Rose and Farmer were subsequently roommates in New York City in 1935. Career Rose, who worked with the New York Association for the Blind (she served eleven years as the Association's Director of Recreation), also taught acting, and was a pioneer in the use of drama as therapy for the blind.
