The Moment (band)
The Moment were among the leading bands of the 1980s UK mod revival, described retrospectively by Paul Moody of the ''NME'' as "English pop music's greatest ever secret". Formed in Haverhill, Suffolk, in 1983, The Moment were fronted by the singer-songwriter, Adrian Holder, releasing a series of singles, including "In This Town" (1984), "One, Two They Fly" (1985) and "Ready To Fall" (1988). They released one album, ''The Work Gets Done'', in 1985. "Sticks And Stones", a track released on the Countdown compilation album in 1986, saw The Moment described by British music paper '' Melody Maker'' as sounding "like The Jam wanting to be The Clash". While their influences did indeed include the best of British mod and punk, they also drew their inspiration from The Beatles, northern soul and classic rock, taking their name from song "The Unguarded Moment" by Australian neo-psychedelic rock band The Church. Haverhill, Suffolk
Haverhill ( , ) is a market town and civil parish in the county of Suffolk, England, next to the borders of Essex and Cambridgeshire. It lies about south east of Cambridge, south west of Bury St Edmunds, and north west of Braintree and Colchester. Geography The town centre lies at the base of a gentle dip in the chalk hills of the Newmarket Ridge; running through the town is Stour Brook, which goes on to join the River Stour just outside the town. Paul Bultitude
Paul Bultitude is an English musician and record producer. He was the drummer in power pop band Advertising, working with his cousin Dennis Smith, Tot Taylor and Simon Boswell, before replacing Seb Shelton as the drummer in Secret Affair. He was responsible for "discovering" Mari Wilson and when she achieved chart success on Tot Taylor's Compact Records label, Bultitude was the drummer in her band, the Wilsations. He was also the drummer for the short-lived power pop band, The Innocents. Career In 1982 he formed the record label Dance Network with songwriter Paul Bevoir and together they set about crafting executed and packaged bubblegum pop, inspired by the music and merchandising of The Monkees and The Beatles. Paul Bevoir (born 20 May 1960 in Islington, London, England) is an English pop-rock songwriter and musician. He is probably best known as a member of the 1980s English pop band the Jetset, ''AllMusic Guide – The Jetset''/ref> who were associated with the British mod revival. The Church (band)
The Church are an Australian Rock music, rock band formed in Sydney in 1980. Initially associated with New wave music, new wave, neo-psychedelia, and indie rock, their music later came to feature slower tempos and surreal soundscapes reminiscent of dream pop and post-rock. Glenn A. Baker has written that "From the release of the 'She Never Said' single in November 1980, this unique Sydney-originated entity has purveyed a distinctive, ethereal, psychedelic-tinged sound which has alternatively found favour and disfavour in Australia." The Clash
The Clash were an English rock band formed in London in 1976 who were key players in the original wave of British punk rock. Billed as "The Only Band That Matters", they also contributed to the and new wave movements that emerged in the wake of punk and employed elements of a variety of genres including reggae, dub, funk, ska, and rockabilly. For most of their recording career, the Clash consisted of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Joe Strummer, lead guitarist and vocalist Mick Jones, bassist Paul Simonon, and drummer Nicky "Topper" Headon. Headon left the group in 1982 due to internal friction surrounding his increasing heroin addiction. Further internal friction led to Jones' departure the following year.
