Vladimír Slavínský
Vladimír Slavínský (26 September 1890 16 August 1949) was a Czech film director, screenwriter and actor. Life Vladimír Slavínský was born Otakar Vladimír Pitrman in Dolní Štěpánice, on 26 September 1890. Since his youth he acted in amateur theatres while working as a typesetter. In 1912 he wrote his first two screenplays. After the World War I he co-founded a production company Pojafilm with Alois Jalovec and started directing. He directed mostly sentimental dramas and comedy films, which were very commercially successful at the time. He died in Prague on 16 August 1949. Raoul Schránil
Raoul Marian Kristian Schránil (24 March 1910 – 20 September 1998) was a Czech film actor. Life Schránil was born in Most on 24 March 1910. His father Rudolf Schránil was a government secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture. His mother Alexandra Poláková was an opera singer. Shortly after his birth he moved to Vienna with his parents. During the World War I he was sent to live with his grandmother in Chotětov. After the war his family moved to Prague. Through his well-connected family, he met many prominent people, such as people such as the opera singer Emmy Destinn. During his teens Schránil was expelled from high school in Prague and was sent to study in Germany and later in Dijon, France. At Dijon lyceum he first performed at a cabaret. He was fluent in Czech, French, German and English. After the recommendation from his cousin, a well-known film director Karl Anton, he was hired in Vlasta Burian's theatre in 1935. Adina Mandlová
Adina Mandlová (28 January 1910 – 16 June 1991) was a Czech stage and film actress. She was one of the leading stars of 1930s and 1940s Czech cinema. She was involved in a number of scandals and love affairs. Life and career Early days She was born Jarmila Anna Františka Marie Mandlová in a middle-class family in Mladá Boleslav. Her father Jan Mandl was a talented pianist who wanted to study music in Vienna, but when his father died, he became a railway inspector. He married his first wife and had two sons – Jan and Karel. When his wife died of tuberculosis, he married Mandlová's mother Anna Krýžová. She was an innkeeper's daughter. Together they had a son Jiří, and finally a daughter Adina. Her father chose her name inspired by Gaetano Donizetti's opera '' L'elisir d'amore''. He made Adina listen to classical music and to play the piano. When she was 7 years old, her father died of Spanish influenza. After his death her mother made Adina stop playing the piano. ...
