Adina Mandlová
Adina Mandlová (28 January 1910 – 16 June 1991) was a Czech stage and film actress. She was one of the leading stars of 1930s and 1940s Czech cinema. She was involved in a number of scandals and love affairs. Life and career Early days She was born Jarmila Anna Františka Marie Mandlová in a middle-class family in Mladá Boleslav. Her father Jan Mandl was a talented pianist who wanted to study music in Vienna, but when his father died, he became a railway inspector. He married his first wife and had two sons – Jan and Karel. When his wife died of tuberculosis, he married Mandlová's mother Anna Krýžová. She was an innkeeper's daughter. Together they had a son Jiří, and finally a daughter Adina. Her father chose her name inspired by Gaetano Donizetti's opera '' L'elisir d'amore''. He made Adina listen to classical music and to play the piano. Mladá Boleslav
Mladá Boleslav (; german: Jungbunzlau) is a city in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 42,000 inhabitants. Miscarriage
Miscarriage, also known in medical terms as a spontaneous abortion and pregnancy loss, is the death of an embryo or fetus before it is able to survive independently. Vladimír Šmeral
Vladimír Šmeral (16 October 1903, in Drásov – 15 March 1982, in Prague) was a Czech actor. Life Šmeral started acting in Zemské divadlo in Brno. He moved to Prague and acted in Liberated Theatre, E. F. Burian's theatre and Divadlo na Poříčí. His wife was Jewish, but he refused to divorce her in order to protect her during the World War II. He had an affair with his theatre co-star Adina Mandlová, who became pregnant. In 1944 he was sent to a concentration camp in Wroclaw. Mandlová was sending him packages with food. In December 1944 she suffered a miscarriage. Šméral managed to escape from the camp and Mandlová help to hide him in a hospital. After the war he was active in many National Front organizations, as a member of the Czechoslovak Communist Party. He became an actor in Vinohrady Theatre and taught at DAMU. Karl Hermann Frank (24 January 1898 – 22 May 1946) was a prominent Sudeten German Nazi official in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia prior to and during World War II. Attaining the rank of ''Obergruppenführer'', he was in command of the Nazi police apparatus in the protectorate, including the Gestapo, the SD, and the Kripo.
