The Mine (1978 Film)
''Maden'' ( en, The Mine) is a 1978 Turkish film starring Cüneyt Arkın, Tarık Akan and Hale Soygazi, and directed by Yavuz Özkan. It is about a group of miners who decide to strike against a greedy mining company to demand better working conditions. The film is from the wave of political films in Turkey during the 1970s and actually represents one of the highest points of activism in the Turkish cinema as the Turkish left was in its peak point too. Ä°hsan Yüce (23 January 1929 – 15 May 1991) was a Turkish people, Turkish actor and occasionally, scenarist and director. Biography Ä°hsan Yüce studied at Ä°zmir Atatürk High School and later at the Ä°ktisadi ve Ticari Ä°limler Akademisi. He began his acting career in Ä°zmir and founded the Bizim Tiyatro and Drama Tiyatrosu. His first prominent film role was in ''Altın Yumruk'' and he established himself with films such as ''Senede Bir Gün'', ''Bir Millet Uyanıyor'' ve ''Sürtüğün Kızı''. He was awarded the Golden Orange for Best Actor for his performance in ''Derya Gülü''. All together, Yüce acted in a total of 117 films, wrote the screenplay for 55 films and directed 6 films.
