The Mighty Treve
''The Mighty Treve'' is a 1937 American drama film directed by Lewis D. Collins and written by Albert R. Perkins, Marcus Goodrich and Charles Grayson. It is based on the 1925 novel ''Treve'' by Albert Payson Terhune. The film stars Noah Beery Jr., Barbara Read, Samuel S. Hinds, Hobart Cavanaugh, Alma Kruger and Earle Foxe. The film was released on January 17, 1937, by Universal Pictures. Plot Sheepdog Treve and his owner are given a job in a sheep-ranch owned by an eccentric with a huge fear of dogs, owners of surrounding ranches accuse Treve of being a sheep killer. Frank Reicher
Frank Reicher (born Franz Reicher; December 2, 1875 – January 19, 1965) was a German-born American actor, director and producer. He is best known for playing Captain Englehorn in the 1933 film ''King Kong''. Early life Reicher was born in Munich, Germany, the son of actor Emanuel ReicherUS Passport Application August 4, 1922 and Hedwig Kindermann, a popular German prima donna who was a daughter of the famous baritone August Kindermann. Reicher's parents divorced in 1881 and his mother died two years later while at Trieste. His half-sister, Hedwiga Reicher, would also become a Hollywood actor. Nora Cecil (September 26, 1878 – May 1, 1951) was an English-born American actress whose 30-year career spanned both the silent and sound film eras. Career Stage Cecil's career began on the stage, when she debuted in London at age 19. She appeared in the Broadway production ''The Sleeping Beauty and the Beast'', which ran for more than 240 performances at the Broadway Theatre in 1901–1902. (A 1930 newspaper article says that Cecil "made her debut, three decades ago, on the London stage.") Film Cecil appeared in well over 100 feature films and film shorts. Heinie Conklin (born Charles John Conklin; July 16, 1880July 30, 1959) was an American actor and comedian whose career began in the silent film era. Early years Conklin was born Charles John Conklin on July 16, 1880, in San Francisco, California. He attended San Francisco's public schools. Career In vaudeville, Conklin headlined shows on the Keith and Orpheum circuits. He was billed as Charles Conklin until 1927. He began working in films in 1915 after 17 years on stage and in vaudeville. One of the original Keystone Kops, Conklin wore makeup of heavy eyebrow lining and a thin, upside-down, painted-on variation of Kaiser Wilhelm's mustache. Robert Dudley (September 13, 1869 – September 15, 1955) was a dentist turned film character actor who, in his 35-year career, appeared in more than 115 films. Career Dudley was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and was educated at Lake Forest College in Evanston, Illinois and Chicago, where he majored in oral surgery. In 1917 he appeared in his first film, '' Seven Keys to Baldpate'', and then made three other silent films through 1921. After 1922 he worked consistently, appearing in three or four films a year, and making the transition to sound films in 1929 with '' The Bellamy Trial''.
