The Mentally Ill
The Mentally Ill was a punk band originating from Deerfield, Illinois in the late 1970s. Their 1979 7" single ''Gacy's Place'' named after notorious serial killer John Wayne Gacy, is considered by many to be one of the most unusual and legendary records of the early Chicago punk rock scene. They released another 7" record in 1982 entitled ''Sex Cells'', before fading into obscurity. The Mentally Ill reappeared in 1999 to record a full-length album with Steve Albini, entitled ''Strike the Bottom Red''. In 2004, Jello Biafra released the ''Gacy's Place'' sessions in their entirety with a collection of old demo tapes on his well-known record label Alternative Tentacles. On November 24, 2007, 28 years after the release of the ''Gacy's Place'' 7", The Mentally Ill played the You Weren't There afterparty at The Beat Kitchen, located at 2100 W. Belmont Ave. Chicago, IL. It was the first time The Mentally Ill played live, and the reviews of their performance were almost all positive. T ...

John Wayne Gacy
John Wayne Gacy (March 17, 1942 – May 10, 1994) was an American serial killer and sex offender who raped, tortured, and murdered at least 33 young men and boys. Gacy regularly performed at children's hospitals and charitable events as "Pogo the Clown" or "Patches the Clown", personas he had devised. He became known as the Killer Clown due to his public services as a clown prior to the discovery of his crimes. Gacy committed all of his murders inside his ranch-style house near Norridge, a village in Norwood Park Township in suburban Chicago. Typically, he would lure a victim to his home and dupe him into donning handcuffs on the pretext of demonstrating a magic trick. He would then rape and torture his captive before killing him by either asphyxiation or strangulation with a garrote. Twenty-six victims were buried in the crawl space of his home, and three others were buried elsewhere on his property; four were discarded in the Des Plaines River. Gacy was convicted of t ...

Jello Biafra
Eric Reed Boucher (born June 17, 1958), known professionally as Jello Biafra, is an American singer, spoken word artist and politician. He is the former lead singer and songwriter for the San Francisco punk rock band Dead Kennedys. Initially active from 1979 to 1986, Dead Kennedys were known for rapid-fire music topped with Biafra's sardonic lyrics and biting social commentary, delivered in his "unique quiver of a voice". When the band broke up in 1986, he took over the influential independent record label Alternative Tentacles, which he had founded in 1979 with Dead Kennedys bandmate East Bay Ray. In a 2000 lawsuit, upheld on appeal in 2003 by the California Supreme Court, Biafra was found liable for breach of contract, fraud and malice in withholding a decade's worth of royalties from his former bandmates and ordered to pay over $200,000 in compensation and punitive damages; the band subsequently reformed without Biafra. Although now focused primarily on spoken word performance ...
