The Man Who Quit Smoking
''The Man Who Quit Smoking'' ( sv, Mannen som slutade röka) is a 1972 Swedish comedy film directed by Tage Danielsson, starring Gösta Ekman, Grynet Molvig, Carl-Gustaf Lindstedt and Gunn Wållgren. The film is known as a Hasse & Tage film and is a great cult classic in Sweden. Plot The plot focuses on Dante Alighieri, a young man who loves smoking. When his father dies Dante inherits 17 million kr on one special condition: He must give up smoking in 14 days and then stay smoke-free for an entire year. If he fails, his uncle inherits the 17 million instead. Dante has a living hell while trying to quit, and hires a private detective agency called Little Secret Service who he gives free hands to stop him from smoking. At the same time, his uncle (who has taken up smoking himself) does everything he can to make Dante smoke again. Tage Danielsson
Tage Danielsson (; 5 February 1928 – 13 October 1985) was a Swedish author, actor, comedian, poet and film director. He is best known for his collaboration with Hans Alfredson in the comedy duo Hasse & Tage. Career After graduation from Katedralskolan in Linköping, Danielsson matriculated at the University of Uppsala in 1949. There he got involved in student theatre of Östgöta Nation and became a member of the Juvenalorden, as well as serving as vice president of the Uppsala Student Union. After graduation, Tage Danielsson found work at ''Sveriges Radio'' in 1955. From 1959 to 1962 he was the manager for its entertainment department. At his work he came in contact with Hans Alfredson. They started the entertainment production company ''AB Svenska Ord'' (Swedish Words Ltd) together in 1961. The ''Divine Comedy'' ( it, Divina Commedia ) is an Italian narrative poem by Dante Alighieri, begun 1308 and completed in around 1321, shortly before the author's death. It is widely considered the pre-eminent work in Italian literature and one of the greatest works of world literature. Stig Ossian Ericson (7 September 1923 - 30 July 2012) was a Swedish actor, director, and screenwriter. Ericson was born in 1923 in Härnösand, but grew up in Nyköping. Olle Hilding (born Hilding Olof Johansson; 19 July 1898 – 9 November 1983) was a Swedish stage and film actor. He appeared in motion pictures between 1923-1982. Biography Hilding Olof Johansson was born and died in the Katarina Parish of Stockholm, Sweden.
