''The Love Special'' is a surviving 1921 American silent drama film directed by Frank Urson and written by Eugene B. Lewis and Frank H. Spearman. The film stars Wallace Reid, Agnes Ayres, Theodore Roberts, Lloyd Whitlock, Sylvia Ashton, and William Gaden. The film was released on March 20, 1921, by Paramount Pictures. Frank Urson
Frank John Urson (March 21, 1887 – August 17, 1928) was an American silent film Film director, director and cinematographer from Chicago, Illinois. Originally a photographer, he moved on to cinematography and film directing for the Thanhouser Company in New Rochelle, New York. He is also credited with acting in one film, ''Her Gallant Knights'', which starred William Garwood in 1913. Urson directed ''Changing Husbands''. He is perhaps best known for his 1927 film ''Chicago (1927 film), Chicago'', produced by Cecil B. DeMille. Biography He was born on March 21, 1887, in Chicago, Illinois. Urson died on August 17, 1928, at age 41 from drowning in Indian Lake (Michigan), Indian Lake, Michigan. Snitz Edwards
Snitz Edwards (born Edward Neumann, 1 January 1868 – 1 May 1937) was a stage and character actor of the early years of the silent film era into the 1930s. Biography Born into a Jewish household on New Year's Day 1868 in Budapest, Hungary (then part of the Austro-Hungarian empire), Edwards immigrated to the United States and became a successful Broadway stage actor during the early twentieth century. His first show was the musical comedy ''Little Red Riding Hood'', which opened on January 8, 1900. He often appeared in the first decade of the 20th century on Broadway in productions for such prominent stage directors as Arthur Hammerstein and Charles Frohman. He traveled with touring companies across the United States and in South America. On one trip, the company manager absconded with the box office receipts, leaving Snitz and the rest of the marooned troupers to find their way across Panama to catch a steamship back to New York City. The UCLA Film & Television Archive is a visual arts organization focused on the preservation, study, and appreciation of film and television, based at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Also a nonprofit exhibition venue, the archive screens over 400 films and videos a year, primarily at the Billy Wilder Theater, located inside the Hammer Museum in Westwood, California.
