''The Lost Files'' is a series of three radio dramas released prior to the fourth series of ''Torchwood'', a British science fiction television series which airs on the BBC. These dramas aired as BBC Radio 4's ''Afternoon Play ''Drama'' (formerly ''Afternoon Theatre'', ''Afternoon Drama,'' ''Afternoon Play'') is a BBC Radio 4 radio drama, broadcast every weekday at 2.15pm. Generally each play is 45 minutes in duration and approximately 190 new plays are broadcast each ...'' on the 11,12 and 13 July 2011 and feature the regular cast. Although broadcast to coincide with the airing of '' Torchwood: Miracle Day'', two of the episodes are set prior to the '' Torchwood: Children of Earth'' miniseries of 2009, as they include the character of Ianto Jones, who is killed off in the 2009 miniseries. ''Torchwood'' is a British Science fiction on television, science fiction television programme created by Russell T Davies. A spin-off of the 2005 revival of ''Doctor Who'', it aired from 2006 to 2011. The show shifted its broadcast channel each series to reflect its growing audience, moving from BBC Three to BBC Two to BBC One, and acquiring American financing in its fourth series when it became a co-production of BBC One and Starz. ''Torchwood'' is aimed at adults and older teenagers, in contrast to ''Doctor Who''s target audience of both adults and children. As well as science fiction, the show explores a number of themes, including existentialism, sexuality and human corruptibility. ''Torchwood'' follows the exploits of a small team of alien-hunters, who make up the Cardiff-based, fictional Torchwood Institute which deals mainly with incidents involving extraterrestrials.
