The Look Of Love (film)
''The Look of Love'' is a 2013 British biopic of Paul Raymond, directed by Michael Winterbottom. It stars Steve Coogan as Raymond. The film was released in the United Kingdom on 26 April 2013. Plot The story opens in London in 1992. Paul Raymond returns to his flat, after attending the funeral of his daughter, Debbie. Raymond plays a videotape of a television programme he and Debbie took part in, and reflects on their lives. In a flashback to the end of the 1950s, Raymond is an impresario, on the seaside variety show circuit, where he is making a name for himself, by adding semi nude women to his stage acts. After a lion attacks the show's dancers, his wife Jean joins the show. When the '' Daily Sketch'' claims that Jean performed nude, Raymond sues the newspaper unsuccessfully, but appreciates the ensuing publicity, after which Raymond launches his strip club in London, the Raymond Revue Bar. Michael Winterbottom
Michael Winterbottom (born 29 March 1961) is an English film director. He began his career working in British television before moving into features. Three of his films—''Welcome to Sarajevo'', '' Wonderland'' and '' 24 Hour Party People''—have competed for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. Winterbottom often works with the same actors; many faces can be seen in several of his films, including Shirley Henderson, Paul Popplewell, John Simm, Steve Coogan, Rob Brydon, Raymond Waring and Kieran O'Brien. Raymond Revue Bar
The Raymond Revuebar (1958–2004) was a theatre and strip club at 11 Walker's Court (now the location of The Box Soho nightclub), in the centre of London's Soho district. For many years, it was the only venue in London that offered full-frontal, on-stage nudity of the sort commonly seen in other cities in Europe and North America. Its huge brightly lit sign declaring it to be the "World Centre of Erotic Entertainment" made the Revuebar a local landmark. In 1980, the Boulevard Theatre section of the venue was hired by comic actor Peter Richardson to stage his alternative comedy revue, The Comic Strip. This attracted a younger punk audience to the venue. In 1989, the Boulevard became Eddie Izzard's stand-up venue.
