Some critics consider it inferior to ''The Big Sleep'' or ''Farewell, My Lovely'', but others rank it as the best of his work. Chandler, in a letter to a friend, called the novel "my best book". "Human Touch" has since sold more than one million copies in the United States, and was nominated for Best Rock Vocal Performance at the 1993 Grammy Awards. Springsteen later added lyrics to the songs, and liked them to the point where he began writing and recording more songs. With the E Street Band gone—except for Bittan, who played keyboards and co ...
