The Living And The Dead (Cruachan Album)
''The Living and the Dead'' is the ninth studio album by Irish folk metal band Cruachan. The album was released on 24 March 2023 through Despotz Records. Critical reception ''Rock 'N' Load'' praised the album saying, "In all, ''The Living and the Dead'' is a fitting way for Cruachan to celebrate the legacy of both the band and folk-metal as a whole. The blend of folk and metal instruments and styles is exceptional, even for a band that have been engaged with this style for three decades. While it is true that at times there seems to be imagination lacking when it comes to certain guitar riffs, the sheer creativity and intuition displayed elsewhere more than make up for this. The compositions and arrangements are at times absolutely masterful, invoking the talents of classical composers, and the range of emotions evoked throughout the record is certainly something for the band to be proud of. They are set to headline the revered Siege of Limerick festival on Easter Sunday, or, the ...

The Living And The Dead (Boileau-Narcejac Novel)
''The Living and the Dead'' (also known as ''Vertigo'') is a 1954 psychological mystery novel by Boileau-Narcejac, originally published in French as ''D'entre les morts'' (). It served as the basis for Alfred Hitchcock's 1958 film ''Vertigo''. Plot In 1940, Parisian lawyer Roger Flavières is asked by his old friend Gevigne to help in a sensitive matter regarding his wife Madeleine. Gevigne claims that Madeleine has been acting strangely, but that doctors have been unable to find anything wrong with her. She seems to be possessed by the spirit of her great-grandmother, Pauline Lagerlac, who committed suicide when she was Madeleine’s present age. Gevigne is busy managing a shipbuilding business and he asks Flavières to watch over his wife for a while. Flavières begins following Madeleine, and one day saves her after her jump in the Seine. After the two become close, Madeleine tells Flavières that she feels she has lived before, and that she has a special connection to Paulin ...

The Living And The Dead (White Novel)
''The Living and the Dead'' is a novel by Australian Nobel Prize laureate Patrick White, his second published book (1941). It was written in the early stages of World War II whilst the author alternated between the United Kingdom and the United States. ''The Living and the Dead'' is predominantly set in 1930s London. The Standishes—mother Catherine, son Elyot and daughter Eden—lead disparate lives under the one roof. The relationships between the three remain detached throughout the novel, each privately searching for purpose in a rapidly changing world. Their insignificance is overshadowed by the advance of war, deepening the portrayal of their inner bleakness. As is typical of White's work, ''The Living and the Dead'' is more significant in its character penetration than the complexity of its plot. Plot summary ''The Living and the Dead'' opens in London's Victoria Station. Elyot Standish bids farewell to his younger sister Eden in a manner that is not particularly emoti ...

In that case, it is a conflict between men who share the same views ..."
