The Light (producers)
Proper Filthy Naughty is a musical production duo consisting of John Ross and Joe Williams, who have also worked under the names Salamander and The Light. They have had releases on Platipus Records, FFRR, and Hooj Choons. Their single "Expand the Room" (done as The Light) was featured on several compilations such as Sasha & John Digweed's '' Northern Exposure: Expeditions''. In the 2000s, they changed their name to Proper Filthy Naughty and have since released several singles on 10 Kilo. Platipus Records
Platipus Records was a British trance music record label that was based in London, England. It was founded in 1993 by Simon Berry, and early releases included Union Jack and Art of Trance. Later, the label included artists like Dawnseekers and Quietman. Sublabels included Gekko and Platipus Euro. Platipus Records Ltd ceased trading in 2010. Berry and the label's artists relaunched under the Porcupine Records label, but this was superseded by the founding of Platipus Music at the end of 2011. FFRR
FFRR Records (sometimes credited as Full Frequency Range Recordings) is a dance music label previously run and founded by English DJ Pete Tong. Originally the dance music label of London Records, FFRR is currently a sublabel of Parlophone, a division of Warner Music Group. The label name references the recording technique (full frequency range recording) developed by Sir Edward Lewis's Decca Records. The original incarnation of FFRR was founded in 1986, and also had two subsidiaries: Double F Double R Records and Ffrreedom Records. The label's ear logo was copied from the original FFRR logo source, as found at the top of the London Records logo. The label name was stylized as ffrr, rather than FFRR. FFRR's parent company London was run by Roger Ames as his own 'semi-autonomous indie' from within the major label group PolyGram, so when Ames joined Warner Music as Chair and CEO, London/FFRR went with him. Hooj Choons
Hooj Choons is a house record label formed by Alex Simons and Red Jerry (real name Jeremy Dickens) in 1990. The first release was "Carnival de Casa" by Rio Rhythm Band, however, it was not until 1992's release of Felix's "Don't You Want Me", which Red Jerry and Faithless founder-member Rollo co-produced, that Hooj Choons had their first crossover hit. Over the next ten years, Hooj Choons had several notable releases including productions from artists such as Diss-Cuss, Tilt, Oliver Lieb and JX. The label built up a roster of popular club hits and smaller underground classics over 20 years. Dissolution In 2003, Hooj announced its dissolution as a record label. Hooj Choons was dissolved having released 136 singles plus a dozen or so album-length compilations. It is survived by its sub-label Lost Language, which has subsequently released the album ''Oid'' by Space Manoeuvres. Sasha & John Digweed
Sasha & John Digweed are a British DJ duo comprising Sasha and John Digweed. Digweed had been DJing for ten years before getting a gig at Renaissance where he met Sasha, who had been working the past few years in various acid house music clubs and raves. Together, they honed their DJ skills, focusing on track selection and technical mixing abilities. In 1994, they released the triple CD mix album '' Renaissance: The Mix Collection'' on Renaissance Records. It contained many popular dance hits of the time from artists such as Leftfield, Fluke, and 2 Bad Mice as well as original productions and remixes from themselves. Two years later, the duo became "true superstars" (AllMusic) with the release of their double CD '' Northern Exposure'' on mega-label Ministry of Sound. Expeditions
Exploration refers to the historical practice of discovering remote lands. It is studied by geographers and historians. Two major eras of exploration occurred in human history: one of convergence, and one of divergence. The first, covering most of ''Homo sapiens'' history, saw humans moving out of Africa, settling in new lands, and developing distinct cultures in relative isolation.
