The Liberals-Sgarbi
The Liberals Sgarbi ( it, I Liberal Sgarbi), then renamed Liberals Sgarbi – The Libertarians ( it, Liberal Sgarbi – I Libertari), was a minor personalist-liberal political party in Italy. The party was founded in March 1999 by Vittorio Sgarbi, a member of the Chamber of Deputies first elected in 1992 with the Italian Liberal Party, who later joined Forza Italia (1994), the Federalist Party (1995) and the Pannella-Sgarbi List (1996). In the 1999 European Parliament election, thanks to a new electoral pact with Forza Italia, Sgarbi was elected to the European Parliament and served there for two years. In 2001 he was re-elected to the Chamber of Deputies for Forza Italia. In the 2004 European Parliament election the party formed a joint list with the Italian Republican Party, gainining 0.7% of the vote and no MEPs. Vittorio Sgarbi
Vittorio Umberto Antonio Maria Sgarbi (born 8 May 1952 in Ferrara) is an Italian art critic, art historian, writer, politician, cultural commentator and television personality. He is President of the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Trento and Rovereto. He was appointed curator of the Italian Pavilion at the 2011 Venice Biennale. Several times a member of the Italian Parliament, in 2008 he served as Cabinet Member for Culture, Arts and Sports in Milan's municipal government for six months when Mayor Letizia Moratti terminated his mandate as she saw him 'unfit for the job'. In 2012, he was removed as Mayor of Salemi by the Ministry of Interior after he failed to acknowledge Mafia interferences in his cabinet. 2004 European Parliament Election In Italy
The 2004 European Parliament election in Italy was held on 12 and 13 June 2004. Italy's highly fragmented party system made it hard to identify an overall trend, but the results were generally seen as a defeat for Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and a victory for the centre-left opposition coalition identified with Romano Prodi, who was President of the European Commission until 2004, and was widely expected to re-enter Italian politics at the next election. The common list of The Olive Tree, comprising mainly the Democrats of the Left and The Daisy became the largest list, with an important psychological effect. Letizia Maria Moratti (née Brichetto Arnaboldi; Milan, 26 November 1949) is an Italian businesswoman and politician. She was president of RAI (1994–1996), minister of Education, University and Research (2001–2006), mayor of Milan (2006–2011) and president of the board of directors of UBI Banca (2019–2020). The Southern Democratic Party ( it, Partito Democratico Meridionale, PDM) was a centrist political party in Italy based in Calabria. The Southern Democratic Party was founded in 2006, as a split from the regional organisation of Democracy is Freedom – The Daisy. The Consumers' List () was a political party in Italy. The party was founded in 2004 by Carlo Rienzi, President of the Codacons association (''Coordination of associations for environmental protection and user and consumer rights''). In the 2004 EP election the party got only 0.5% of the vote, without gaining any seats.
