The Lemon Bucket Orkestra
The Lemon Bucket Orkestra is a Canadian self-described "Balkan-Klezmer- Gypsy-Party-Punk-Super Band" based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Early history Founding member Mark Marczyk met bartender and musician Michael Louis Johnson in 2009 after returning to Toronto from Kyiv, Ukraine. Johnson introduced Marczyk to the Gypsy-punk band Worldly Savages. Marczyk joined them on fiddle. It was at after parties for the Savages' shows that eventual members of the band, such as Tangi Ropars and Os Kar, joined in on late-night jam sessions. Eventually, the concept for the band was solidified during a conversation between founding members Mark Marczyk and Tangi Ropars in a Vietnamese restaurant in Toronto. The term forró (*) refers to a musical genre, a rhythm, a dance and the event itself where forró music is played and danced. Forró is an important part of the culture of the Northeastern Region of Brazil. It encompasses various dance types as well as a number of different musical genres. The Air Canada enRoute Film Festival was an annual film festival of short films hosted by Air Canada and its in-flight magazine '' enRoute''. Films are shown as in-flight entertainment as well as screened theatrically in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver. Background The festival began in 2007. The festival had a different jury each year consisting of film industry professionals including famous actors, writers, directors and producers. The festival's purpose was to generate exposure for emerging filmmakers. Taraful Haiducilor ("Taraf of Haiduks") are a Romanian-Romani ''taraf'' (a troupe of ''lăutari'', traditional musicians) from Clejani, Romania, and one of the most prominent such groups in post-Communist era Romania. In the Western world they have become known by the name given to them in French-speaking areas, where they are known as Taraf de Haïdouks. History The lăutari originating in the village of Clejani have long been known for their musical skills. The first recordings by ethnomusicologists in the village were made in the interwar period. The Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO) is a Canadian orchestra based in Toronto, Ontario. Founded in 1906, the TSO gave regular concerts at Massey Hall until 1982, and since then has performed at Roy Thomson Hall. The TSO also manages the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra (TSYO).
