The Leinster Leader Junior Club Cup is a Gaelic football competition for junior clubs organised by the Kildare GAA. Gaelic Football
Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach; short name '), commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. It is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team's goals (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goals and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the football up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). In the game, two types of scores are possible: points and goals. A point is awarded for kicking or hand-passing the ball over the crossbar , signalled by the umpire raising a white flag. A goal is awarded for kicking the ball under the crossbar into the net (the ball cannot be hand-passed into the goal), signalled by the umpire raising a green flag. Kildare GAA
The Kildare County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), or Kildare GAA, is one of 12 county boards governed by the Leinster provincial council of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for the administration of Gaelic games in County Kildare The County Board is responsible for preparing the Kildare county teams in the various Gaelic sporting codes; football, hurling and camogie. The county football team won the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship (SFC) on four occasions in less than 25 years at the beginning of the 20th century and had accumulated ten Leinster Senior Football Championships by 1935; however, it then went into decline. It last reached an All-Ireland SFC final in 1998 after a gap of 63 years without an appearance in the decider. The ''Leinster Leader'' is a newspaper published in Naas, County Kildare, Ireland. Johnston Press bought the Leinster Leader Group in 2005. The Leinster Leader Group, as well as publishing the Naas-based ''Leinster Leader'' also published The ''Dundalk Democrat'', ''Leinster Express'' (Portlaoise), ''Limerick Leader'', ''Offaly Express'', and the ''Tallaght Echo''. The paper is currently owned by Iconic Newspapers, who acquired Johnston Press' titles in the Republic of Ireland in 2014. History The paper was founded 1880 in Naas, County Kildare, as the ''Leinster Leader and Central Counties Commercial and Agricultural Adviser'' by Patrick Cahill, LLB, who was its first editor in August 1880. Patrick Cahill was an Irish Nationalist, Land League Activist and supporter of Home Rule, he was jailed under the Coercion Act of 1881. Cappagh GAA
Cappagh is a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club in County Kildare, Republic of Ireland. It was the Kildare club of the year in 1998. History Cappagh was founded by Paddy Butler and John Murray in the aftermath of the Easter Rising. Their grounds in Ballyvauneen, southwest of Cappagh, were purchased in 1971 and their dressing room complex opened in 1995. Gaelic Football Kerryman Tadhg Downey played at corner forward on the 1939 Kildare championship team. At Downey's behest, Cappagh adopted the red jerseys of the Dingle club, worn by Kerry in the 1938 All Ireland final. They amalgamated with Kilcock 1938-41 and 1955-62 Jim Daly and Pat Lyons played on the Kildare team in 1950. Hurling Under 15's down to Nursery. Hurling was introduced at Nursery level in 2010 by current hurling coordinator Tom Murray. They won their first hurling trophy with their u12 div 4 in 2015. Milltown GAA (County Kildare)
Milltown is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Milltown, County Kildare, Ireland which played a leading role in developing the games in the county. History Milltown won the Junior Championship in 2008 defeating Robertstown by a single point. Emmet Mullhall is Milltown's most famous present player, having been a member of the Kildare panel on the county's last appearance in an All-Ireland final in 1998. Colin O'Shea, a real star for the future, played in the 2009 Minor Leinster final. At some underage grades Milltown, along with Allenwood, Ballyteague & Robertstown, form part of the highly successful combined Parish of Allen club, Na Fianna. Milltown have been affiliated to the GAA since 1888, and have affiliated each year since. Adding to their history, the Milltown U21s team were the first 21s team of Milltown to win a Championship Title in November 2017.
