The Legends Of Jigong
''The Legends of Jigong'' is a Singaporean television series based on legends about Ji Gong (1130–1207), a Chinese Buddhist monk who is revered as a deity in Chinese folk religion and folk hero in Chinese culture. It was produced by the Television Corporation of Singapore (TCS) and was first aired in Singapore on TCS Eighth Frequency (now MediaCorp Channel 8) in 1996. Xie Shaoguang, who portrayed Ji Gong and sang the theme song for the series, was nominated for the Best Actor award at the 1997 Star Awards. Plot Ji Gong is originally the Taming Dragon Arhat, one of the Eighteen Arhats. His apprentice, Golden Boy, accidentally allows the unruly White Tiger Star under his watch to escape from Heaven into the human world to cause trouble. Gods and demons fiction () is a subgenre of fantasy fiction that revolves around the deities, immortals, and monsters of Chinese mythology. The term ''shenmo xiaoshuo'', coined in the early 20th century by the writer and literary historian Lu Xun, literally means "fiction of gods and demons". Works of shenmo fiction include the novels ''Journey to the West'' and ''Investiture of the Gods''. Qin Hui
Qin Hui or Qin Kuai (January 17, 1090 – November 18, 1155) was a Chinese politician. He was a Chancellor of the Song dynasty in Chinese history. He was a contemporary of Yue Fei during the reign of Emperor Gaozong of Song. Modern historians have blamed Emperor Gaozong Zhao Gou for being a traitor for his part in the persecution and execution of his political enemy, Yue Fei, a general who fought for the Song against the Jin dynasty during the Jin–Song Wars. The Mad Monk
''The Mad Monk'' ( is a 1993 Hong Kong fantasy comedy film directed by Johnnie To, and starring Stephen Chow as the "Mad Monk" Ji Gong, a popular Chinese folklore figure from the Southern Song Dynasty. The film follows "Dragon Fighter Luohan" as he accepts a challenge from the gods to change the fate of a beggar, a prostitute, and a villain in three heavenly days. He is reborn on earth as a mere mortal and ultimately battles an evil demon to stave off hell on earth. Plot The gods in Heaven complain to the Jade Emperor about the malicious practical jokes played on them by Dragon Fighter Lohan. The Emperor summons Dragon, but Tiger Fighter Lohan appears instead to defend his friend. Bai Yan (born Yan Boyuan; 5 May 1920 – 19 August 2019) was a Singaporean actor. He was a multi-disciplined performer, ranging from theatre to dance and a magician. Affectionately known as "Uncle Bai Yan", he is a household name in the Singapore television dramas scene. Career Bai started his acting career in the 1930s when he joined the Yin Yue Music And Dance Troupe. In the 1940s before World War II, he came to Singapore with the troupe.
