The Legend Of The Hidden City
''The Legend of the Hidden City'' was a South African action adventure series, directed by David Lister, which was broadcast by SABC and SABC2 between 1996 and 1998 as two series with a total of 39 episodes. It was also shown by Sky1 and Five in the United Kingdom, Network 2 (as part of the children's strand ''The Den'' in Ireland), Channel 2 in Jordan, ZBC in Zimbabwe, Fun Channel in The Middle East, Kids Channel in Israel and by ''Canal Famille'' in Québec, Canada. Plot The series followed the lives of archaeology students who discover an ancient city in the wilderness unknown to civilisation. As the series progresses, the youngsters Dean and Thabo who survived the helicopter crash (as does Dean's girlfriend Nina but they believe she's dead for much of the series), endure tests and riches, made friends with the inhabitants of the city. David Lister (director)
David Lister is a South African-born film and television director, now residing in Australia. David Lister grew up on a farm in Mpumalanga Province, South Africa. He trained as a painter and sculptor in Pretoria before being employed as a scene painter, set designer and head of the props department at the Performing Arts Council in Transvaal (province), Transvaal. After a brief period as a documentary cameraman at SABC TV, he departed to the UK and studied at the London Film School 1972–1974. He then returned to South Africa to work as a director in the film and television industry. Around 2005 he moved to Australia. Robert Clive Cleghorn (4 July 1937 – 28 July 2021) was a South African radio, film, television and theatre actor and director best known for his performances in the TV soap operas ''The Villagers'' and ''Isidingo''. Biography Clive Scott was born in Parkview, Johannesburg, South Africa, in 1937, as Robert Clive Cleghorn and went to school in Springs. After the death of his father, his mother settled in Cape Town, completed his schooling at St. George's Grammar School becoming Head Boy in 1955. His earlier adult career was in banking including a two-year stint in Rhodesia. Having enough of banking he left for the United Kingdom for three months but ended up staying twelve years. Nkhensani Manganyi (also known as Nkhensani Nkosi) is a South African born actress and fashion designer. Career As fashion designer In 2000 Manganyi started the fashion house Stoned Cherrie. The company developed a high profile in South Africa for its use of images of apartheid-era heroes as a recurring motif in its designs of T-shirts and cutaway tops. One of the company's better-known t-shirt designs featured cover from the magazine ''Drum'' with the face of the anti-apartheid activist Stephen Biko, murdered by the state security forces in 1977, whose face remains a powerful political symbol of the resistance movement to apartheid.
