''The Herald'' is a nationwide mid-market tabloid newspaper headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, and published by Independent News & Media who are a subsidiary of Mediahuis. It is published Monday–Saturday. The newspaper was known as the ''Evening Herald'' until its name was changed in 2013. History The ''Evening Herald'' was first published in Dublin on 19 December 1891. In 1982 the paper changed its size from broadsheet to tabloid. Until November 2000, the ''Evening Herald'' was produced and pressed in Independent House on Middle Abbey Street, Dublin 1. The monochrome printing facility in the basement of this building was then retired, and the paper is now printed in full colour at a purpose-built plant in Citywest, along with the ''Irish Independent'', the '' Sunday Independent'' and various other regional newspapers owned by Independent News & Media. ''Tubridy Tonight'' is a talk show hosted by Ryan Tubridy that aired on RTÉ One for five seasons between 2004 and 2009. The programme featured guest interviews (usually three per show), audience participation and live music from both a guest music group and the house band. ''Tubridy Tonight'' aired every Saturday night, except during the summer months, directly after the main evening news. The show's house musical act was Clint Velour and the Camembert Quartet. ''Tubridy Tonight'' was the first successful Saturday night chat show to be broadcast by RTÉ since the ending of ''Kenny Live'' in 1999. Thomas Patrick "Tom" McGrath (22 April 1930 - 10 April 1985) was a television producer at RTÉ Television, Ireland's national broadcaster. He is known for "pioneering" '' The Late Late Show'' in 1962, and selecting Gay Byrne to host the show. He was also credited with introducing Terry Wogan and Mike Murphy's first television series. He chose the song "All Kinds of Everything", and selected Dana to sing it, as Ireland's winning entry to the 1970 Eurovision contest. He later produced and directed Ireland's staging of the 1971 Eurovision contest. Early life Tom McGrath was born in Dublin on 22 April 1930 and educated at Christian Brothers School, North Brunswick Street, and at St. Canice's, North Circular Road.
