The Last Trimester
''The Last Trimester'' is a 2006 made-for-TV movie starring Chandra West, Jim Thorburn, Matthew Harrison and Lara Gilchrist. Plot Tracy ( Chandra West) and Eric Smythe (Jim Thorburn) are a happily married couple who find it difficult to have children. After numerous failed in-vitro fertilization treatments and a heartbreaking near adoption, Eric decides to get an old girlfriend Gabby (Lara Gilchrist) to allow Tracy and himself to adopt her baby, although Eric's connection to Gabby is kept secret from Tracy. Gabby agrees to let Eric and Tracy to adopt her unborn child as she is already late in her second trimester. Tracy takes an instant liking to Gabby seeing her as her hope and forming a sisterly connection to the young lady, however Gabby seems more attached to Eric, loving the attention and affection from both Eric and Tracy. Chandra West
Chandra K. West (born December 31, 1970) is a Canadian actress. Early life and education West was born in Edmonton, Alberta, the youngest of eight children. The family moved to Oak Bay, British Columbia, where she attended Monterey Elementary for three years. The family moved to Oakville, Ontario, where West spent the majority of her youth. When she was 17, West attended a summer acting camp located in Oxford, England. She later went on to study in the Theater Performance Program at Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec. Matthew Harrison (director)
Matthew Harrison (born in New York City) is an American television and film director, producer and writer. He first came to prominence when his feature film ''Rhythm Thief'' was awarded Special Jury Recognition for Directing at the Sundance Film Festival. His first studio feature ''Kicked in the Head'' was executive produced by Martin Scorsese and released by Universal Studios. He directed episodes 1X11 and 1X12 of HBO's ''Sex and the City''. Early films Harrison attended PS 41 in downtown Manhattan where he began making 8mm films at age nine. During the 60's, 70's and 80's, Harrison made 8mm and S8mm short films. In vitro fertilisation (IVF) is a process of fertilisation where an egg is combined with sperm in vitro ("in glass"). The process involves monitoring and stimulating an individual's ovulatory process, removing an ovum or ova (egg or eggs) from their ovaries and letting sperm fertilise them in a culture medium in a laboratory. After the fertilised egg (zygote) undergoes embryo culture for 2–6 days, it is transferred by catheter into the uterus, with the intention of establishing a successful pregnancy. IVF is a type of assisted reproductive technology used for infertility treatment, gestational surrogacy, and, in combination with pre-implantation genetic testing, avoiding transmission of genetic conditions.
