The Last Resort (adventure)
''The Last Resort'' is a role-playing game adventure published by TSR in 1985 for the '' Marvel Super Heroes'' role-playing game. Plot summary ''The Last Resort'' contains a scenario for four players, who take on the roles of the West Coast Avengers: Hawkeye, Mockingbird, Tigra and Wonder Man (although there are suggestions for how the gamemaster can adapt the adventure to other superheroes). The four superheroes are planning to meet Iron Man in the Rocky Mountains for a weekend of rest, but when they arrive at the Boy Scout Jamboree where they were supposed to meet him, Iron Man is nowhere to be seen and hypnotized Boy Scouts attack them. The superheroes must find Iron Man's kidnapper, dealing with Plantman, Blizzard, Pyro, Whirlwind, the Radioactive Man and finally the Mandarin. Ron Frenz
Ronald Wade Frenz (born February 1, 1960) is an American comics artist known for his work for Marvel Comics. He is well known for his 1980s work on ''The Amazing Spider-Man'' and later for his work on '' Spider-Girl'' whom he co-created with writer Tom DeFalco. Frenz and DeFalco had earlier co-created the New Warriors in the pages of ''Thor''. Career Frenz began working for Marvel Comics in the early 1980s. Frenz's early work includes such titles as '' Ka-Zar the Savage'', ''Star Wars'', '' The Further Adventures of Indiana Jones'', and ''Marvel Saga''. His first credited story for Marvel was published in ''Ka-Zar the Savage'' #16 (July 1982). Frenz has a history of working on comic book series in which the characters were not in their original costumes/identities. In Scouting, a jamboree is a large gathering of Scouts who rally at a national or international level. History The 1st World Scout Jamboree was held in 1920, and was hosted by the United Kingdom. Kim Eastland
Kimber "Kim" Lee Eastland (February 26, 1952 – January 29, 2020) was a game designer who worked for TSR. Early life Kim Eastland was born in Moline, Illinois, one of two children of Everett and Margaret Eastland. He attended Alleman High School in nearby Rock Island, then earned a bachelor's degree from Augustana College in Rock Island, studying pre-med, English, and theater. Career In 1981, at age 19, Eastland began working for the tabletop miniatures manufacturer Grenadier Models as their publicist and the editor of their new newsletter, ''The Grenadier Bulletin''. In 1983, he started working for TSR from his home in Moline, becoming the network coordinator of the RPGA, succeeding founder Frank Mentzer. Mandarin (character)
The Mandarin is a supervillain appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. He is the archenemy of Iron Man. The character was created by Stan Lee and designed by Don Heck, first appearing in '' Tales of Suspense'' #50 (Feb. 1964). The character is described as being born in China before the Communist revolution to a wealthy Chinese father and an English aristocratic mother, both of whom died when he was very young. A whirlwind is a weather phenomenon in which a vortex of wind (a vertically oriented rotating column of air) forms due to instabilities and turbulence created by heating and flow (current) gradients. Pyro (Marvel Comics)
Pyro is the name of two fictional characters appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Known as St. John Allerdyce, Pyro is depicted as a recurring enemy of the X-Men and later becomes an agent of the U.S. government. He was created by Chris Claremont and John Byrne and introduced in ''The Uncanny X-Men'' #141 ( January 1981) as part of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. Pyro has the mutant power to control fire. TSR (company)
TSR, Inc. was an American game publishing company, best known as the original publisher of ''Dungeons & Dragons'' (''D&D''). Its earliest incarnation, Tactical Studies Rules, was founded in October 1973 by Gary Gygax and Don Kaye. Gygax had been unable to find a publisher for ''D&D'', a new type of game he and Dave Arneson were co-developing, so founded the new company with Kaye to self-publish their products. Needing financing to bring their new game to market, Gygax and Kaye brought in Brian Blume in December as an equal partner. ''Dungeons & Dragons'' is generally considered the first tabletop role-playing game (TTRPG), and established the genre. When Kaye died suddenly in 1975, the Tactical Studies Rules partnership restructured into TSR Hobbies, Inc. and accepted investment from Blume's father Melvin.
