The Last Outpost (TNG Episode)
"The Last Outpost" is the fifth episode of the American science fiction television series '' Star Trek: The Next Generation'', originally aired within the United States on October 19, 1987. The episode was written by Herbert Wright, based on a story by Richard Krzemien, and directed by Richard Colla. The guest cast included Armin Shimerman, Jake Dengel and Tracey Walter. Although this was Shimerman's first appearance as a Ferengi, he had previously filmed his first appearance in an uncredited role in " Haven", but that was broadcast after "The Last Outpost". He would later gain the role of the Ferengi Quark in the main cast of ''Star Trek: Deep Space Nine''. Set in the 24th century, the series follows the adventures of the Starfleet crew of the Federation starship Enterprise-D. Transporter (Star Trek)
A transporter is a fictional teleportation machine used in the ''Star Trek'' science fiction franchise. Transporters allow for teleportation by converting a person or object into an energy pattern (a process called "dematerialization"), then sending ("beaming") it to a target location or else returning it to the transporter, where it is reconverted into matter ("rematerialization"). Since its introduction in ''Star Trek: The Original Series'' in 1966, the name and similar concepts have made their way to other science fiction scenarios, in literature (such as the ''Thousand Cultures'' series), games (''SimEarth''), etc. The transporter was originally conceived as a device to convey characters from a starship to the surface of a planet without the need for expensive and time-consuming special effects to depict the starship or another craft physically landing. William Riker
William Thomas "Will" Riker is a fictional character in the ''Star Trek'' universe appearing primarily as a main character in '' Star Trek: The Next Generation''. Throughout the series and its accompanying films, he is the ''Enterprise''s first officer, and briefly captain, until he accepts command of the USS ''Titan'' at the end of '' Star Trek: Nemesis''. Brent Spiner
Brent Jay Spiner (; born February 2, 1949) is an American actor. He is best known for his role as the android Data on the television series '' Star Trek: The Next Generation'', as well as four subsequent films. Michael Okuda is an American graphic designer best known for his work on '' Star Trek'' including designing futuristic computer user interfaces known as "okudagrams". Michael George Westmore I (born March 22, 1938) is an American make-up artist best known for his work in various ''Star Trek'' productions, winning nine Emmy Awards, and is a member of the Westmore family. Andrew Probert (born 1946 in Independence, Missouri) is an American artist. He is known for his work with the ''Star Trek'' franchise, most notably the designs of the USS ''Enterprise'' for '' Star Trek: The Motion Picture'' and the ''Enterprise''-D for '' Star Trek: The Next Generation''. After spending some time in the United States Navy, Probert studied at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. His first film/TV work was on Glen A.
