Károly Makk
Károly Makk (December 22, 1925 – August 30, 2017) was a Hungarian film director and screenwriter. Five of his films were nominated for the ''Palme d'Or'' at the Cannes Film Festival; however, he won lesser awards at Cannes and elsewhere. He was born in Berettyóújfalu, Hungary. In 1973 he was a member of the jury at the 8th Moscow International Film Festival. In 1980, he was a member of the jury at the 30th Berlin International Film Festival. His film '' A Long Weekend in Pest and Buda'' (2003) was entered into the 25th Moscow International Film Festival. From September 27, 2011, he was the president of the Széchenyi Academy of Literature and Arts. Gyula Babos
Gyula Babos (June 26, 1949 in Budapest - April 12, 2018 ibid) was a Hungary, Hungarian jazz guitarist. Biography Babos was a part of the bands Kex, Rákfogó and Saturnus, and won the Jazz Competition of the Hungarian Radio in 1966. Since 1977 he taught guitar at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music, where he became teacher of several generations of Hungarian guitarists. In the 1990s he gave some great concerts. He appeared in the Petofi Hall in Budapest with Victor Bailey (musician), Victor Bailey, Terri Lyne Carrington, György Jinda and Béla Szakcsi Lakatos, and gave a concert with Frank Zappa in front of 50,000 spectators. In 1997 he founded the Babos Romani Project, with which he recorded the album ''Once upon a time… (Egyszer volt…)'' in 1998. In the same year he recorded three albums with the group Take Four (Aladár Pege, Rudolf Tomsits and Imre Kőszegi), followed by recordings with Herbie Mann in 2001. Hédi Váradi
Hédi Váradi (22 September 1929 – 11 April 1987) was a Hungarian actress. Biography At the age of 18, Hédi took acting lessons from the Hungarian acting teacher Kálmán Rózsahegyi at the Academy of Drama and Film in Budapest. In her classes, she met other types of artists such as Berek Kati and Imre Soós. She was for a long time married to Ferenc Bessenyei, but the couple later divorced. After refusing life-saving surgery, she later died from a serious illness. She was laid to rest at the Kerepesi Cemetery in Budapest. Personal life After 1952, Hédi started working in the Madách Theatre in Budapest, and from 1964, she worked in the National Theatre until her death. Tibor Déry (18 October 1894 in Budapest – 18 August 1977 in Budapest) was a Hungarian writer and poet. He also wrote under the names Tibor Dániel and Pál Verdes. György Lukács praised Dery as being "the greatest depicter of human beings of our time". Biography He was born to well-off bourgeois parents. His father was a lawyer and his mother came from a wealthy Jewish-Austrian family. In 1911, he graduated from the Budapest Academy of Commerce and spent a year studying German in St. Gallen. From 1913 to 1918, he worked for his uncle, who operated a lumber business, first in Galócás, Transylvania, then in Budapest. At this time, he began writing and managed to publish a few pieces. After the First World War, he joined the Communist Party. During the brief Hungarian Soviet Republic, he became a member of the .
