The King Of Wild Horses
''The King of the Wild Horses'' is a 1924 American silent Western film directed by Fred Jackman. It stars Edna Murphy, Rex the wonder horse, and Charley Chase. It was written and produced by Hal Roach and released through Pathé Exchange. Plot As described in a film magazine review, the Black, by right of might, is undisputed leader of a band of wild horses. By his intelligence and agility, he protects the herd and eludes various pursuiers. The Fielding ranch is under the charge of Wade Galvin, a villainous foreman, who has involved Fielding's weakling son in a cattle stealing escapade. Billy Blair, a cowpuncher, has two consuming passions. One is his love for Mary Fielding and the other is his desire to capture The Black. His perseverence is rewarded, for he wins both the young woman and horse. All three co-operate in frustrating further villainy on the part of Galvin, the foreman, and in bringing him to justice. Fred Jackman
Fred Wood Jackman Sr. (July 9, 1881 – August 27, 1959), was an American cinematographer and film director of the silent film, silent era. He worked on 58 films as a cinematographer between 1916 and 1925. He also directed eleven films between 1919 and 1927, including two film serials for Hal Roach, Hal Roach Studios. He was born in Iowa and died in Hollywood, California. His son, Fred Jackman Jr. was at one time married to Nancy Kelly, who had been a child actress in silent films. His brother Floyd Jackman (1885 - 1962) was a cinematographer who worked on numerous silent films, including some early Laurel and Hardy shorts. Sidney D'Albrook (May 3, 1886 – May 30, 1948) was an American actor. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, a son of Harry Dahlbruck, a musician, and Jennie McGuire. He was working as an actor in Davenport, Iowa, in 1910, living with his sister Ruth and his mother Jennie. He did films in New York in the teens, and then they moved to Hollywood in 1920. At this point his brother Hal or Harold lived with them for a time. He worked in films until his death, did many character parts.
