The Kickback (film)
''The Kickback'' is a 1922 American silent Western film directed by Val Paul and starring Harry Carey and Henry B. Walthall. Plot Aaron (Walthall) wishes to make Harry's land and girl his own. To do this, he sends Harry to Mexico with false papers for some horses. Harry gets arrested in Mexico, but soon escapes and returns home, where he is also arrested. Before he can be lynched, a Mexican girl brings the Texas Rangers to rescue him. Cast * Harry Carey as White Horse Harry * Henry B. Val Paul (April 10, 1886 – March 23, 1962) was an American actor and director of the silent era. He appeared in 99 films between 1913 and 1922. He also directed 10 films between 1920 and 1932. He was born in Denver, Colorado and died in Hollywood, California. Vester Pegg
Vester Pegg (May 23, 1889 – February 19, 1951) was an American actor of the silent film era. He appeared in 140 films between 1912 and 1941, mainly Westerns. He was born in Appleton City, Missouri and died in Los Angeles, California. Pegg became a picador in 1909, working in a bull ring in Mexico City. He left that job after a bull charged and killed the horse on which Pegg was riding. He moved to California, where he began acting in stock theater. After 18 months of acting on stage, he began acting in films, eventually signing with Universal Pictures, where he worked with Harry Carey's company. Ethel Grey Terry (October 2, 1882 – January 6, 1931) was an American actress of the silent era. She is best remembered for her role in '' The Penalty'' with Lon Chaney. Early years Ethel Grey Terry was born in Oakland, California, the daughter of actress Lillian Lawrence, a single mother. She first appeared on stage, in a supporting role to Wallace Eddinger, when she was 5 years old. Raised in Roxbury, Massachusetts, Terry attended Notre Dame Academy for seven years. She had an early interest in art and planned to make her career in that field. Career Terry appeared on Broadway for two years in David Belasco's productions and later performed in Shubert productions. Her Broadway credits included ''Honor Be Damned!'' Charles Le Moyne (June 27, 1880 – September 13, 1956) was an American motion picture actor of the silent era. He appeared in 73 films between 1915 and 1937. Biography He was born Carl Jonathan Lemon at Marshall, Illinois, on June 27, 1880, the son of Charles and Clara (née Martin) Lemon. Charles Lemon was a stonemason who later moved his family to Los Angeles where he worked as a railroad conductor. Le Moyne was a favorite of actor/director Harry Carey, who once said that if Le Moyne was ever not available to play the heavy in one of his films, he would rather postpone production until the actor became free.
