The KangaZoo Club
The KangaZoo Club was an educational program about wild animals produced by Quadramedia Management, Inc., recorded in Toronto in front of an audience (the kangaZoo Club), and aired on Global TV in 1984. 26 episodes, each 24 minutes long, were recorded. The show was hosted by Russel Chong and Melissa Glavota, and featured a big kangaroo costume character named KangaZoo (voiced by Julianne Rice) with a pouch full of animals that would be found in zoos. The show featured animal related songs by composer Nancy Ryan, and ended with a meeting of the KangaZoo Club, giving the audience a chance to share letters, drawings, and jokes. Russel and Melissa took viewers on expeditions to Canadian zoos including the Toronto Zoo with Toby Styles, Marineland in Niagara Falls with Mark Shawver, and the African Lion Safari in Rockton with Ron Cameron, where they interviewed animal handlers to get answers to questions that the children might want to ask. Global TV
The Global Television Network (more commonly called Global, or occasionally Global TV) is a Canadian English-language terrestrial television network. It is currently Canada's second most-watched private terrestrial television network after CTV, and has fifteen owned-and-operated stations throughout the country. The Toronto Zoo is a zoo located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Encompassing , the Toronto Zoo is the largest zoo in Canada. It is divided into seven zoogeographic regions: Indo-Malaya, Africa, Americas, Tundra Trek, Australasia, Eurasia, and the Canadian Domain. Some animals are displayed indoors in pavilions and outdoors in what would be their naturalistic environments, with viewing at many levels. Marineland Of Canada
Marineland (official name Marineland of Canada Inc.), is a themed zoo and amusement park in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. The park has performing marine animal shows, sea mammal and land animal exhibits, and amusement rides. It keeps dolphins, sea lions, an orca, and beluga whales. The park also keeps bears, deer, and other land animals. It was founded and operated by John Holer, a Slovenian immigrant, from 1961 until his death in 2018. It is privately owned-and-operated by his family. The park's keeping of sea mammals is controversial, and the park is involved in several lawsuits related to the practice. The keeping of the sea mammals is opposed by animal rights activists and Marineland has been the site of numerous animal rights demonstrations. Niagara Falls
Niagara Falls () is a group of three waterfalls at the southern end of Niagara Gorge, spanning the border between the province of Ontario in Canada and the state of New York in the United States. African Lion Safari
African Lion Safari is a family-owned safari park in Southern Ontario, Canada, straddling the cities of Hamilton and Cambridge, located west of Toronto. Guests may tour seven game reserves, with a total area of about , on tour buses or in visitors' own vehicles, where animals roam freely in contained areas. YTV (TV Channel)
YTV is a Canadian English language specialty channel owned by YTV Canada, Inc., a subsidiary of Corus Entertainment. The channel and its programming is targeted at children and young teenagers; its name was originally thought to be an abbreviation for "Youth Television", though the channel's website has denied this. The channel was launched on September 1, 1988 by owners Rogers Media and CUC Broadcasting upon launch.
