The Judas Of Tyrol
''The Judas of Tyrol'' (german: Der Judas von Tirol) is a 1933 German historical drama film directed by Franz Osten and starring Fritz Rasp, Camilla Spira, and Marianne Hoppe. It was shot at the Johannisthal Studios in Berlin.Klaus p.89 The film's sets were designed by the art director Hans Jacoby. Its Berlin premiere was at the Marmorhaus. Synopsis The film is set in the early nineteenth century, when the Tyrol was under foreign occupation. The Tyrolean folk hero Andreas Hofer hides in the village of St Leonhardt, whose residents are preparing to stage their annual Passion Play. The film focuses on Raffl, a young farmhand cast in the role of Judas. Raffl gradually loses the ability to distinguish between role and reality. Franz Osten
Franz Osten (23 December 1876 in Munich – 2 December 1956) was a Bavaria, Bavarian filmmaker who along with Himansu Rai was among the first retainers of Bombay Talkies. Osten partnered with Rai on a number of India's earliest blockbuster films like ''Achhut Kanya'' and ''Jeevan Naiya''. Early life Osten was born Franz Ostermayr in Munich on 23 December 1876. He trained to be a photographer like his father and gave acting a try. In 1907, he founded a traveling cinema called the "Original Physograph Company" with his brother Peter Ostermayr, who later established the predecessor to Bavaria Film Studios, today one of Germany's largest film studios. Amongst other films, he showed ''Life in India'', a short documentary film about the Munich carnival. Hans Jacoby (art Director)
Hans Jacoby (1898–1967) was a German art director who designed the film sets for many German productions.Giesen p.208 He worked for a number of companies during the Weimar Era, notably Bavaria Film, Terra Film and Universum Film AG. Of Jewish background, he emigrated to Austria following the Nazi takeover in Germany, where he worked on ''The Eternal Mask'' (1935). He later emigrated to Argentina where he worked under the name Juan Jacoby Renard and also directed one film ''Sombras en el río'' in 1939. He was employed by the Argentina Sono Film. Friedrich Rudolf Klein (24 November 1885 – 29 May 1955), better known as Rudolf Klein-Rogge, was a German film actor, best known for playing sinister figures in films in the 1920s and 1930s as well as being a mainstay in director Fritz Lang's Weimar-era films. He is probably best known in popular culture, particularly to English-speaking audiences, for playing the archetypal mad scientist role of C. A. Rotwang in Lang's ''Metropolis'' and as the criminal genius Doctor Mabuse. Klein-Rogge also appeared in several important French films in the late 1920s and early 1930s. Oskar Marion (2 April 1896 – March 1986) was an Austrian film actor. Life Born as Oskar Viktor Lepka in Brno on 2 April 1896. His parents were physician Antonín Lepka and Žofie Lepková (née Müller). Marion went to study medicine to Vienna, but after 1 year he had to enlist to be an ambulance driver, when World War I broke out. After the war ended he decided to become an actor. Theodor Loos
Theodor August Konrad Loos (18 May 1883 – 27 June 1954) was a German actor. The son of a watchmaker and instruments manufacturer, he left secondary school prematurely and worked for three years at an export firm for music instruments in Leipzig, and after that for his uncle, an art dealer in Berlin. He decided though to become an actor. His theater engagements led him to Leipzig, Danzig and Frankfurt am Main, then to Berlin where he acted from 1912 to 1945 at different theaters. In the 1930s he could be seen performing in classic theater, on over 400 occasions in Peer Gynt alone. From 1913 he performed in more than 170 feature films, initially silent films. He remains perhaps best-known for his numerous roles in the films of Fritz Lang. Fritz Kampers (14 July 1891 – 1 September 1950) was a German film actor. He appeared in more than 250 films between 1913 and 1950. Early life Fritz Kampers was the son of a Munich hotel owner, spent his early childhood in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and attended a boarding school in Weilheim in Upper Bavaria.
