American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, also known as Joint or JDC, is a Jewish relief organization based in New York City. Since 1914 the organisation has supported Jewish people living in Israel and throughout the world. The organization is active in more than 70 countries. The JDC offers aid to Jewish populations in central and eastern Europe as well as the Middle East through a network of social and community assistance programs. In addition, the JDC contributes millions of dollars in disaster relief and development assistance to non-Jewish communities. History The JDC was founded in 1914, initially to provide assistance to Jews living in Palestine under Turkish rule. The Joint (Sirius XM)
Since 2008, Sirius XM Radio has had a similar channel lineup, with a few differences based on whether the individual has a Sirius, XM, or SiriusXM radio. For technical reasons, separate radios continue to be manufactured for the separate services despite the programming lineups having since been merged. The Lynx and Edge radios are on the SiriusXM platform, the Onyx and XM3pi radios are on the XM platform, and the Sportster and Starmate radios are on the Sirius platform. The Joint (music Venue)
The Theater at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, originally known as The Joint, is a theater located on the grounds of the Virgin Hotels Las Vegas in Paradise, Nevada. It opened as The Joint on March 10, 1995, as part of the Hard Rock Hotel (later Virgin Hotels). The venue closed on February 7, 2009, and a new, larger Joint was opened two months later, doubling capacity from 2,000 to 4,000 people. The new Joint hosted various concert residencies. It is a common venue for classic rock and modern rock bands in the Las Vegas Valley. It frequently booked groups who traditionally favor arena types of venues. It also hosted other events such as comedy acts and boxing matches. The hotel and music venue closed in February 2020, for renovations and rebranding as Virgin Hotels. Rick Davies
Richard Davies (born 22 July 1944) is an English musician, singer and songwriter best known as founder, vocalist and keyboardist of the rock band Supertramp. Davies was its only constant member, and composed some of the band's best known songs, including "Rudy (Supertramp song), Rudy", "Bloody Well Right", Supertramp (album), "Crime of the Century" , "From Now On (Supertramp song), From Now On", "Ain't Nobody But Me", "Gone Hollywood", "Goodbye Stranger", "Just Another Nervous Wreck", "Cannonball (Supertramp song), Cannonball", and "I'm Beggin' You". Steve Jolliffe
Steve Jolliffe (born 28 April 1949) is an English musician. After meeting Rick Davies (Supertramp) in the late 1960s Jolliffe played with him in a band called the Joint. He left the Joint to study music at the Berlin Konservatorium. There he met Edgar Froese and played with one of the earliest incarnations of Tangerine Dream. He subsequently joined the band Steamhammer, a blues-rock outfit that experienced moderate success in the early 1970s, touring extensively and played on their "Steamhammer II" album, as well as co-writing the "Autumn Song" single which topped the French charts. After leaving the band, Jolliffe composed the music for John Samson's 1973 documentary ''Tattoo''. Jolliffe rejoined Tangerine Dream in the late 1970s, recording the album ''Cyclone'' with the band in 1978. He then released a solo album entitled ''Earth'' in 1978.
