The Invasion (Doctor Who)
: ''The Invasion'' is the partly missing third serial of the sixth season of the British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who'', which was first broadcast in eight weekly parts from 2 November to 21 December 1968. In the serial, the megalomaniac Tobias Vaughn (Kevin Stoney), the head of the hugely successful electronics company International Electromatics, forms an alliance with the Cybermen to take control of Earth. ''The Invasion'' marks the first appearance of UNIT, the second appearance of Lethbridge-Stewart (Nicholas Courtney), now promoted to Brigadier, and introduces Corporal Benton (John Levene), later to become a sergeant during the Third Doctor's era. It was the first incomplete ''Doctor Who'' serial to be released on DVD with full-length animated reconstructions of its two missing episodes. Patrick Troughton
Patrick George Troughton (; 25 March 1920 – 28 March 1987) was an English actor who was classically trained for the stage but became known for his roles in television and film. His work included appearances in several fantasy, science fiction and horror films, and playing the Second Doctor, second incarnation of The Doctor (Doctor Who), the Doctor in the long-running British science fiction on television, science-fiction television series ''Doctor Who'' from 1966 to 1969; he reprised the role in 1972–1973, 1983 and 1985. Clifford Earl (29 August 1933 – 30 July 2015) was an English actor who appeared in numerous television programmes and films. Early years Earl was born Kenneth Clifford Earl on 29 August 1933 in Romney Marsh, Kent, England. He carried out his National Service in a medical role. Peter Kai Thornton CBE (April 8, 1925 – February 8, 2007) was a museum curator and writer. Walter Randall (26 June 1929 – 5 May 2006) was a British dancer turned actor with numerous roles in British television, including parts in ''The Saint'', '' Out of This World'', ''Yes Minister'', '' The Professionals'' and ''Dixon of Dock Green''. His film appearances included roles in '' The Hand'' (1960) and '' Tiffany Jones'' (1973). Sergeant John Benton is a fictional character in the British science fiction television series '' Doctor Who'', played by John Levene. He was the senior NCO of the British contingent of UNIT, an international organisation that defends Earth from alien threats. He appeared semi-regularly on the programme from 1968 to 1975, and was eventually promoted to the rank of Warrant Officer Class 1, holding the post of Regimental Sergeant Major. John Levene (born John Anthony Woods; 24 December 1941) is an English actor, producer, entertainer and singer. Although he has appeared in a large number of films and television series, Levene's best-known role is that of Sergeant Benton, of UNIT in the science-fiction television series ''Doctor Who'', a role he played from 1968 to 1975. Early life Levene was born as John Anthony Woods in Salisbury, Wiltshire on Christmas Eve 1941, the eldest child of Austin and Vera Woods (née Blake); he has a younger brother called Michael.
