The Insatiable Moon
''The Insatiable Moon'' is a 2010 New Zealand drama film, based on a 1997 novel of the same name by Mike Riddell, who also wrote the screenplay. The film was directed by Rosemary Riddell, and stars Rawiri Paratene in the leading role as Arthur, self-proclaimed second son of God. Arthur sets off on a mission to find the 'Queen of Heaven', and finds her in Margaret ( Sara Wiseman), just as the community boarding house he calls home faces threat. The film focuses on themes around mental illness and discrimination, and draws on Mike Riddell's experiences working with those with mental health problems and those that are underprivileged. This is what both the novel and screenplay are based on. The film was shot in Ponsonby, a suburb of Auckland. Rosemary Riddell
Rosemary Riddell is an actor, film director and Family Court judge from New Zealand. Riddell was born and educated in Auckland. She began her career working in broadcasting and public relations, then went overseas and met her husband Mike Riddell in London. After their three children had started school, Riddell enrolled to study law at university, and was admitted to the bar in 1992. She worked in family law for Gaze Burt in Auckland, and in 1997 she moved to Dunedin to join Gallaway Haggitt Sinclair. She was made a partner in the firm in 1999. Riddell has served as a Council member of the Otago District Law Society, and President of the Otago Women Lawyers Society. She was appointed a Family Court judge in 2006, and sat in Hamilton for 12 years before retiring, after which she wrote the book ''To Be Fair: Confessions of a District Court Judge''. Rotten Tomatoes is an American review-aggregation website for film and television. The company was launched in August 1998 by three undergraduate students at the University of California, Berkeley: Senh Duong, Patrick Y. Lee, and Stephen Wang. Although the name "Rotten Tomatoes" connects to the practice of audiences throwing rotten tomatoes in disapproval of a poor stage performance, the original inspiration comes from a scene featuring tomatoes in the Canadian film ''Léolo'' (1992). Luke Hurley
Luke Hurley (born 31 August 1957) is an independent New Zealand guitarist and singer-songwriter, who works mostly outside the confines of the music industry. He was born in Kenya, and later moved with his family to Gore, New Zealand, Gore in Southland Region, Southland, New Zealand when aged 12. He achieved a degree of early success on student radio with the song "Mona Lisa" in the early 1980s at University of Otago in Dunedin.
