''The Innocence'' ( ca, La innocència, links=no) is a 2019 Spanish drama film directed by Lucía Alemany (in her feature film debut), starring Carmen Arrufat alongside Laia Marull, Sergi López, and Joel Bosqued. The film was nominated for two Goya Awards. Plot Set in a rural area of the province of Castellón, the plot deals about the dilemma of abortion faced by Lis, a teenager who has an unwanted pregnancy imperiling her dreams of becoming a circus artist. Cast Production The film was produced by Turanga Films, Un Capricho de Producciones, and Lagarto Films, with additional backing from IVC, ICEC, À Punt, TV3, Movistar Plus+ and ECAM's La Incubadora. Director-screenwriter Alemany had an abortion when she was 17 and was raised in Traiguera, the main shooting location for the film. Carmen Arrufat Blasco (born 11 October 2002) is a Spanish film and television actress. Her performance in ''The Innocence'' earned her a nomination to the Goya Award for Best New Actress. She became known to a television audience for her villainess role in the television series ''HIT''. Biography Born on 11 October 2002 in Castellón de la Plana, Arrufat took acting courses since she was 11 year old, and she trained at Aula Cine y TV, a drama school operated by Víctor Antolí. Arrufat debuted as a leading actress in a feature film in the 2019 drama ''The Innocence'' (she lied about her age being 16 while she was still 15 in order to get the role). ''Levante-El Mercantil Valenciano'' is a Spanish regional newspaper from the Valencian Community that belongs to the Prensa Ibérica media holding. It had a brief precedent in ''Avance'' (30 March – 15 April 1939) and it was the bulletin of the Valencian section of the FET y de las JONS. The newspaper later belonged to the ''Movimiento'' (official Francoist political movement) press.
