The Inn On The Lahn
''The Inn on the Lahn'' or ''The Hostess of the Lahn'' (German: ''Die Wirtin an der Lahn'') is a 1955 West German comedy film directed by Johann Alexander Hübler-Kahla and starring Dorit Kreysler, Oskar Sima and Ingrid Pan. Klossner p.180 The film's sets were designed by the art directors Ernst H. Albrecht and Paul Markwitz . Synopsis Karoline Steinmeier and her husband Josef are a tight-fisted couple who run an inn on the River Lahn near the Rhineland. For years they have been collecting the pension of her grandfather who had long since died, from his employer a winemaker. When he wants to visit to celebrate the old man's hundred birthday, the couple urgently have to find a replacement grandfather in order to prevent the fraud being discovered. Ludwig Schmidseder
Ludwig Schmidseder (24 August 1904, in Passau – 21 June 1971, in Munich) was a German composer and pianist of the "Light Muse". Several of his Schlager compositions are still popular tunes today. The young Schmidseder followed his father's wishes and trained as a banker, whilst taking piano lessons in secret. He furthered his musical education at the Munich Conservatorium, then left for South America in 1926, ending up in Rio de Janeiro. Starting out as a dishwasher, he went on to become an entertainer and play in a trio on ocean cruises. Schmidseder composed music for the trio, and developed into a virtuoso piano player. From 1930 he worked in Berlin, composing film music, creating operettas and writing more than 500 songs, some of which became much-loved hits. He moved from being a bar pianist (until 1936) to being the house composer at the old Berlin Metropol-Theatre. Werner Fuetterer
Werner Fuetterer (10 January 1907 in Barth, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern – 7 February 1991 in Benidorm, Province of Alicante, Spain) was a German film actor. He appeared in nearly 100 films between 1925 and 1967. In his early film career, Fuetterer often played young romantic lovers, but never managed the breakthrough to stardom. He later turned to character and supporting roles, often as the main characters best friend. Fuetterer remains perhaps best known for his role as the Archangel in F. W. Murnau's silent film classic ''Faust'' (1926). He later retired from acting and managed a camping facility in Spain, where he died in 1991 at age 84.
