The Indestructible Man (novel)
''The Indestructible Man'' is a BBC Books original novel written by Simon Messingham and based on the long-running British science fiction television series '' Doctor Who''. The novel features the Second Doctor, Jamie and Zoe. It depicts a world modelled on television programmes created by Gerry Anderson, in particular '' Stingray'', '' Thunderbirds'', ''Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons'' (''e.g.'' the indestructible man of the novel's title, the flying base of operations and the alien threat) and ''UFO'' (carried over to the cover in which Zoe's purple wig echoes that of the female Moonbase personnel in ''UFO''). However, ''The Indestructible Man'' depicts a dystopian future in contrast to the more utopian style of Anderson's earlier work. Simon Messingham
Simon Messingham is a British science fiction writer, and a comedy writer and performer, who has written six ''Doctor Who'' novels and another ''Doctor Who'' story released as a BBC Audio Drama. Messingham has also witten an original novel, Sirens, which was released in 2017. He also wrote and performed in the cable television programmes ''The Dave Saint Show'' and ''Tales of Uplift and Moral Improvement'' Messingham is also an actor. Tracy Island
Tracy Island is the secret headquarters of the International Rescue organisation in the 1960s British Supermarionation television series '' Thunderbirds'' and its adaptations. In the original series, the heavily-camouflaged island is located in the South Pacific Ocean and is home to the Tracy family, scientists Brains and Tin-Tin, and housekeeper Kyrano. The name "Tracy Island" originates in ''Thunderbirds'' comic strips and other tie-in media; in the series itself, the characters refer to it simply as International Rescue's "base". The island has had several releases as a children's toy, most notably in the early 1990s, 2000 and 2015. The first two models were commercially very successful, causing retailers to run out of stock. Lieutenant Green
Lieutenant Green is a fictional character in the 1960s British Supermarionation television series ''Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons'' and its 2000s computer-animated remake, ''Gerry Anderson's New Captain Scarlet''. In both series, Green serves as the personal assistant to Spectrum commander-in-chief Colonel White, and is shown to be an expert in computer programming and electronics. In the former, which depicts him as a native of Trinidad and Tobago, he is the only non-white male officer on Cloudbase and the only lieutenant among its personnel. Captain Blue (born Adam Svenson) is a character in the British Supermarionation television series ''Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons'' (1967–68) and its computer-animated remake, ''Gerry Anderson's New Captain Scarlet'' (2005). He is a senior officer in the Spectrum Organisation, which is committed to defending Earth against the Mysterons, and is the best friend of Captain Scarlet. Conception Captain Blue was among the first characters to be conceived by series creator Gerry Anderson who, having determined that " Scarlet" would make for an unusual codename for the series' protagonist, resolved that his mission partner could be codenamed "Blue". Cyril Ewart Lionel "Cy" Grant (8 November 1919 – 13 February 2010) was a Guyanese actor, musician, writer, and poet. Francis Matthews (2 September 1927 – 14 June 2014) was an English actor, best known for playing Paul Temple in the BBC television series Paul Temple (TV series), of the same name and for voicing Captain Scarlet (character), Captain Scarlet in ''Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons''.
