The Ideal Crash
''The Ideal Crash'' is the third studio album by Belgian rock band dEUS, released in March 1999. The album was recorded in Spain, U.K. and Belgium and was mixed at Olympic Studios and includes the single "Instant Street", which became an underground hit in Europe. It was produced and mixed by David Bottrill. ''The Ideal Crash'' was the first dEUS album to be directly released through a major label ( Island Records) but it's also the only dEUS album that didn't get a US release. The album cover art is the first dEUS CD cover that does not feature a painting by ex-guitar player Rudy Trouvé. Commercial performance ''The Ideal Crash'' was issued to immediate success in Belgium, obtaining a gold certification for sales of 25,000 copies after one week of release. By April 2008, ''The Ideal Crash'' had sold about 250,000 copies. The singles "Instant Street" and "Sister Dew" entered the UK Singles Chart, peaking at numbers 49 and 62 respectively. Deus (band)
Deus (styled as dEUS)As stylized by the band on all official artwork is a Rock music, rock band based in Antwerp, Belgium, whose only continuous members up to the present day are Tom Barman (vocals, guitars) and Klaas Janzoons (keyboards, violin). The rest of the band's line-up currently consists of drummer Stéphane Misseghers, bassist Alan Gevaert, and guitarist/backing vocalist Mauro Pawlowski. History Formation Formed in 1991, dEUS began their career as a covers band, but soon began writing their own material. Their musical influences range from Folk music, folk and Punk rock, punk to jazz and progressive rock. Lucy Wilkins
Lucy Wilkins is an English violinist and keyboardist from Nottingham, England. She has toured with Roxy Music and performed with James Blunt and Snow Patrol. She has received critical acclaim for her violin solos while touring with Roxy Music. According to a concert review of the band in ''The New York Times'', "Wilkins succeeded in the difficult role of synthesizer wizard, originally held by the legendary Brian Eno." Wilkins has performed in concerts with the influential EMS VCS 3 synthesizer, as used by Eno and others. A longtime collaborator with Tindersticks, she has performed on many of their recordings, including their film soundtracks for the French director, Claire Dénis. Tom Barman
Thomas Andrew Barman (born 1 January 1972), is a Belgian musician and film director. Barman studied at the film school of St.-Lucas in Brussels, but did not finish his studies because he wished to pursue a career in music. In 1989, he began by forming the rock band, dEUS, in Antwerp. Although he had chosen music over his interest in film, his experience aided him in directing his own music videos for dEUS, and he made a short film in 1996 titled ''Turnpike''. He also directed videos for other Belgian musicians including Axelle Red and Hooverphonic among others. He is of Norwegian descent from his father's side. In the summer of 2002 shooting started in Antwerp for his first feature film '' Any Way the Wind Blows'' which was released in Belgian cinemas in the summer of 2003. The Official Charts (legal name: The Official UK Charts Company Limited) is a British inter-professional organization that compiles various "official" record charts in the United Kingdom, Ireland and France. In the United Kingdom, its charts include ones for singles, albums and films, with the data compiled from a mixture of downloads, purchases (of physical media) and streaming. Rudy Trouvé
Rudy Trouvé (born 28 January 1967 in Wilrijk) is a Belgian musician from Antwerp. In the early nineties he founded the Heavenhotel record label and released dozens of records since. Between 1993 and 1995 he was part of Deus, quitting the band in favour of focusing on his own solo career, exploring obscure music groups and temporary collaborations. Since 1995, he scored most success with Kiss My Jazz and Dead Man Ray, and recorded a split album with Lou Barlow on the Sub Rosa label. Rudy Trouvé is regarded highly as an improvisor; in jam sessions and experimental concerts he has shared the stage with Mauro Pawlowski, Zeitkratzer Ensemble (Germany), Marc Ribot (US), Pierre Bastien, Pierre Berthet, members of DAAU, Zita Swoon, among others.
