The Huntress (film)
''The Huntress'' is a 1923 American Drama (film and television), drama film directed by Lynn Reynolds and written by Percy Heath (screenwriter), Percy Heath. It is based on the 1922 novel ''The Huntress'' by Hulbert Footner. The film stars Colleen Moore, Lloyd Hughes (actor), Lloyd Hughes, Russell Simpson (actor), Russell Simpson, Walter Long (actor), Walter Long, C.E. Anderson, and Snitz Edwards. The film was released on August 20, 1923, by First National Pictures, Associated First National Pictures. Cast Production This was the first of five films, in three years, with Moore and Hughes starring in the lead roles. They also appeared together in ''Sally (1925 film), Sally'' (1925), ''The Desert Flower (film), The Desert Flower'' (1925), ''Irene (1926 film), Irene'' (1926), and ''Ella Cinders (film), Ella Cinders'' (1926). Lynn Reynolds
Lynn Fairfield Reynolds (May 7, 1889 – February 25, 1927) was an American director and screenwriter. Reynolds directed more than 80 films between 1915 and 1928. He also wrote for 58 films between 1914 and 1927. Reynolds was born in Harlan, Iowa and died in Los Angeles, California, from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Death Returning home in 1927 after being snowbound in the Sierras for three weeks, Reynolds telephoned his wife, actress Kathleen O'Connor, to arrange a dinner party at their Hollywood home with another couple. During the dinner, Reynolds and O'Connor engaged in a heated quarrel in which each accused the other of infidelity. With his guests following in an attempt to calm him down, Reynolds left the table to retrieve a pistol from another room where he shot himself in the head. Lalo Encinas
Ladislao "Lalo" Encinas (June 27, 1886 – May 5, 1959) was an American character actor active in Hollywood from the 1910s through the 1950s. He was noted as one of few Apache actors working in the motion picture industry by contemporaneous reporters, though according to census records, it appears he was of mestizo or indigenous Mexican ancestry. Biography Encinas was born in Pima, Arizona Pima is a town in Graham County, Arizona, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population of the town was 2,387, up from 1,989 in 2000. A lost film is a feature or short film that no longer exists in any studio archive, private collection, public archive or the U.S. Library of Congress. Conditions During most of the 20th century, U.S. copyright law required at least one copy of every American film to be deposited at the Library of Congress at the time of copyright registration, but the Librarian of Congress was not required to retain those copies: "Under the provisions of the act of March 4, 1909, authority is granted for the return to the claimant of copyright of such copyright deposits as are not required by the Library."
