''The Human League Video Single'' is a music video compilation by the British synthpop group The Human League, released on VHS and Betamax format tape. Marketed as a "video single", it was released in the UK in August 1983. It was the first "Music video#Video single, video single" to be released in the UK, designed to tap into the market created by the new and rapidly increasing popularity of domestic videocassette recorders in the UK. The Human League
The Human League are an English synth-pop band formed in Sheffield in 1977. Initially an experimental electronic outfit, the group signed to Virgin Records in 1979 and later attained widespread commercial success with their third album ''Dare'' in 1981 after restructuring their lineup. The album contained four hit singles, including the UK/US number one hit " Don't You Want Me". The band received the Brit Award for Best British Breakthrough Act in 1982. Further hits followed throughout the 1980s and into the 1990s, including " Mirror Man", "(Keep Feeling) Fascination", " The Lebanon", "Human" (a second US No. 1) and "Tell Me When". ''Eat to the Beat'' is the fourth studio album by American rock band Blondie, released on September 28, 1979, by Chrysalis Records. The album was certified Platinum in the United States, where it spent a year on the ''Billboard'' 200. Peaking at , it was one of ''Billboard''s top 10 albums of 1980. Drum machines, sequencing and programming were provided by producer Martin Rushent and his then engineer and programmer David M. Allen. The original version was released by Virgin Records in 1988, and ties in with the compilation album of the same name, released concurrently, with a slightly differing track listing and order. The 1988 version contains twelve music videos recorded between 1978 and 1986. In 1995, to cash in on an upsurge in the band's popularity Virgin released an updated version of the compilation with three post-1988 videos as well as the 1979 "Empire State Human" video, which was not included on the 1988 version, while the Phil Oakey/Georgio Moroder "Together in Electric Dreams" was dropped. Kajagoogoo were a British new wave band, best known for their 1983 hit single "Too Shy", which reached No. 1 in the UK Singles Chart, and the Top 10 in numerous other countries. History Beginnings (1978–1982) Formed in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, in 1978, the band were originally known as Art Nouveau, a four-piece avant-garde group, with Nick Beggs on bass guitar, Steve Askew on lead guitar, Stuart Croxford Neale on keyboards, and Jez Strode on drums. Art Nouveau released a track called "The Fear Machine", which sold a few hundred copies and enjoyed airtime on John Peel's show. Blancmange () are an English synth-pop band formed in Harrow, London, in 1979. The band were a duo for much of their career, composed of Neil Arthur (vocals) and Stephen Luscombe (keyboards). They came to prominence in the early 1980s, releasing four UK top-20 singles: " Living on the Ceiling", "Waves", " Blind Vision" and " Don't Tell Me".
