''The Human Factor'' is a 2019 American-Israeli documentary film directed by Dror Moreh. The film follows a thirty-year effort to secure peace in the Middle-East. The film had its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival on August 30, 2019. It was released in the United States on January 22, 2021, by Sony Pictures Classics. Premise The epic behind-the-scenes story of the United States' 30-year effort to secure peace in the Middle East. Recounted from the unique perspective of the American mediators on the frontlines. Release The film had its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival on August 30, 2019. It also screened at the Hamptons International Film Festival on October 12, 2019, AFI Fest on November 17, 2019, and DOC NYC in November 2019. Dror Moreh ( he, דרור מורה; born 4 November 1961) is an Israeli cinematographer and director. Film career Moreh's first film as director was ''Sharon,'' an investigation into the appeal of Israeli prime minister, Ariel Sharon. His film, '' The Gatekeepers'' (2012), was nominated for Best Documentary Feature at the 85th Academy Awards. Joe Morgenstern (born October 3, 1932) is an American writer and retired film critic. He wrote for ''Newsweek'' from 1965 to 1983, and then for ''The Wall Street Journal'' from 1995 to 2022. Todd McCarthy (born February 16, 1950) is an American film critic and author. He wrote for ''Variety'' for 31 years as its chief film critic until 2010. In October of that year, he joined ''The Hollywood Reporter'', where he subsequently served as chief film critic until 2020. McCarthy subsequently began writing regularly for ''Deadline Hollywood'' in 2020. Personal life Todd McCarthy was born in Evanston, Illinois, the son of Daniel and Barbara McCarthy.
