The House Where Evil Dwells
''The House Where Evil Dwells'' is a 1982 American-Japanese horror film starring Edward Albert, Susan George and Doug McClure about an American family that moves into a reputed haunted house in the hills of Japan. It was directed by Kevin Connor and produced by Martin B. Cohen. It was based on a novel by James Hardiman and turned into a screenplay by Robert Suhosky. Plot In 1840, in the rural and wooded hillside region of Kushiata near Kyoto, Japan, a samurai, named Shigero, comes home to find his wife, Otami, in bed with another man, named Masanori. In a violent scene, Shigero kills them both and then himself. Flash-forward to the present day, an American family of three, which includes writer Ted Fletcher, his wife Laura, and their 12-year-old daughter, Amy, moves into this since-abandoned house and starts to experience incidents of haunting and possession. Kevin Connor (director)
Kevin Connor (born 14 July 1937) is an English film and television director based in Hollywood. Biography Connor was born in Kings Cross, London on 14 July 1937. He left school in 1953, first working on documentary films in Soho. Later, he became a sound editor on several British productions, working with directors such as Tony Richardson, Richard Attenborough, Richard Lester, Abraham Polonsky and Michael Cacoyannis. Connor worked as an editor on ''Oh! What a Lovely War'' in 1969, and was eventually given his directing break with ''From Beyond the Grave'' in 1974, thanks to producer Milton Subotsky of Amicus Productions. He is best remembered for directing 1970s fantasy/adventure films such as '' The Land That Time Forgot'' (1974), '' At the Earth's Core'' (1976), '' The People That Time Forgot'' (1977), ''Warlords of Atlantis'' (1979) and ''Arabian Adventure'' (1979). Tsuyako Olajima
Tsuyako "Sox" Kitashima (1918 – December 29, 2005) was a Japanese-American activist noted for her role in seeking reparations for Japanese American internment by the United States government during World War II, particularly as investigated by the Commission on Wartime Relocation and Internment of Civilians in the 1980s. Kitashima was born Tsuyako May Kataoka in 1918 in Hayward, California, to Masajiro Kataoka and Yumi Ishimaru, who had emigrated from Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan and owned a strawberry farm in Eden Township, Alameda County, California.
