Reception The album contains heavy participation by the P-Funk musical collective, including Garry Shider, Michael Hampton, and Jerome Brailey. The album also contains the heavily sampled track "Four Play" which, due to its title, prevented the track from garnering airplay when it was released as a single. The album was produced by George Clinton and Bootsy Collins, and was reissued in 1993, first by P-Vine records in Japan, then by Sequel Records in the UK, and lastly AEM in the U.S.. The reissue contains two new remixes of the tracks "Four Play" and "A Blow for Me, a Toot to You", as well as an interview with George Clinton discussing the recording's background. Groove Is In The Heart
"Groove Is in the Heart" is a song by American dance band Deee-Lite, released in August 1990 as their debut and lead single from their first album, ''World Clique'' (1990). Written and produced by the band, it was a hit in many countries, reaching number-one in Australia and on both the Canadian ''RPM'' and US ''Billboard'' dance charts. Today it is widely recognized as a classic of its genre. Background Though the album version was not recorded until 1990, the song was originally written in the late 1980s; it was performed live as early as 1989. The backing track was built around many samples, primarily the main riff from Herbie Hancock's track "Bring Down the Birds" from the ''Blowup'' soundtrack and Vernon Burch's "Get Up", which provided the drum track and also formed the basis for the breakdown featuring a slide whistle. Parliament-Funkadelic bassist Bootsy Collins provided guest vocals, and the rap is provided by Q-Tip of A Tribe Called Quest. Critical reception AllMusi ...

If You Want Me To Stay
"If You Want Me to Stay" is a 1973 hit single by Sly and the Family Stone, from their album ''Fresh''. Background Stone recorded the song without much input from the rest of the band; by the early 1970s, he had begun crafting most of his material by himself. An alternate version of "If You Want Me to Stay", as well as most of the rest of the ''Fresh'' album, was completed before Stone decided to scrap the masters and re-record the album. These alternate versions have surfaced in underground markets, online auctions, and specialty shops. However, five bonus tracks are included in Epic's 2007 reissue of ''Fresh'', all of which are directly from the alternate mix of the album. Song analysis The lyrics of "If You Want Me to Stay" feature frontman Sly Stone informing his lover that she has to let him be himself, otherwise he feels that he would have to leave. The composition has its origins in an apology Stone wrote to his future wife, Kathleen Silva, after a fight. Chart performance ...

Freaky Styley
''Freaky Styley'' is the second studio album by American rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers, released August 16, 1985 on EMI America. ''Freaky Styley'' marks founding guitarist Hillel Slovak's studio album debut, following his return to the band earlier in the year. The album is the last to feature drummer Cliff Martinez. ''Freaky Styley'' was produced by George Clinton, of Parliament-Funkadelic, and the sessions benefitted from Clinton's chemistry with the band but suffered from the band's drug use during recording. The music on the record draws influence from funk, punk rock, and psychedelic rock, while the lyrical content was inspired by the band members' lives in Hollywood. " Jungle Man" and "Hollywood (Africa)" were released as promotional singles while " Catholic School Girls Rule" and "Jungle Man" had music videos made for them. Critics viewed the album as an improvement upon the band's debut album, praising ''Freaky Styleys musical experimentation and production. However ...

P-Funk
Parliament-Funkadelic (abbreviated as P-Funk) is an American music collective of rotating musicians headed by George Clinton, primarily consisting of the funk bands Parliament and Funkadelic, both active since the 1960s. Their distinctive funk style drew on psychedelic culture, outlandish fashion, science-fiction, and surreal humor; it would have an influential effect on subsequent funk, post-punk, hip-hop, and techno artists of the 1980s and 1990s, while their collective mythology would help pioneer Afrofuturism. The groups released albums such as '' Maggot Brain'' (1971), ''Mothership Connection'' (1975), and '' One Nation Under a Groove'' (1978) to critical praise, and scored charting hits with singles such as " Give Up the Funk" (1975) and "Flash Light" (1978). Overall, the collective achieved thirteen top ten hits in the American R&B music charts between 1967 and 1983, including six number one hits. The collective's origins date back to the doo-wop group the Parliam ...

Horn Section
A horn section is a group of musicians playing horns. In an orchestra or concert band, it refers to the musicians who play the "French" horn, and in a British-style brass band it is the tenor horn players. In many popular music genres, the term is applied loosely to any group of woodwind or brass instruments, or a combination of woodwinds and brass. Symphonic In a symphony orchestra, the horn section is the group of symphonic musicians who play the French horn (or German horn or Vienna horn). These musicians are typically seated to the back of the ensemble and may be on either side at the director's discretion. Placing them to the left with their bells toward the audience increases the prominence of the section, whereas on the right, the sound reflects off the back of the stage. Most of the time, players are seated right to left from the director's view based on seating, with the principal horn (first horn) being seated on the right and fourth horn seated on the left. The sec ...
